Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away

I eat lunch every month with people I used to work with and I'm amazed that half of them want to work after they retired. Why retire and come back to the same company to endure the same **** you put up with for decades? I don't get it.
My dad retired at 50 and started his own construction business. He was that bored.

Lol dramatic much. USA will be fine. It ebbs and flows as always
Nothing lasts forever.... and we almost broke up before. It's early yet but things have devolved a lot in 20 years.

And for the first time a sizable portion of its population don't care if America dies.

I'd be both shocked and disappointed if Trump hasn't had a nominee picked out for some time. When we were going through the progression of AD's and failed football HCs, it was my firm belief that the AD should be an ex football coach, because he would know the field of potential replacements and have some common sense thoughts of who and what characteristics to look for - and probably at any time a short list without the need for a search committee. The same applies here with the thought that I really hope Trump knows what he's doing. His history of staffing picks has been pretty iffy.

Eh. If you say so. I think this is the first time in our history that large portions of society have nothing in common. You can't have a country with zero common beliefs.

I can see both sides. We need to minimize federalism, but a greater is the goal of the leftists. Such an impasse. Blow up the greatest most prosperous nation for such BS.

Depending on your retirement program you may be able to go back and work some without any reduction in your retirement benefits. Employers like it because they don't have to worry about providing more benefits.

I was it to a coaching serach in my mind as well. Her passing was expected for such a long time it would be incompetent and Trump has mentioned his liost for years now.

That's why federalism is a fatal disease. Fifty states individually stand a far better chance of doing what the state citizens can agree with than a federal government trying to pound a lot (300M+) of irregularly shaped pegs into one selected kind of hole. The strength of "united states" is that they can be different and still work in a concerted fashion for the good of all. Federalism is the real disease we've only once tried to conquer, and now some people want to remove the reminders.

That's true.

Dems don't seem to have any weapon to hold the GOP to their strenuous vows in 2016 other than to vote them out of power. That's it.
The problem with that is that means even more identity politics, white guilt and bad foreign policy. I’d say both our sides have become equally financially reckless

The scary part to me is seeing what happened to the USSR. Planes mothballed, loose nuke protocols and possibly unmanned silos, piered rusting ships. Not so sure our adversaries would be so benevolent as we were.

At this point, don't be surprised if a lot of white guilt is pegged on zero and trending to a negative number.

The media and Dems will absolutely demonize any women Trump nominates. Wondering if could backfire if they Kavanaugh a woman in front of the world?
The nominee will face scrutiny, but the Democrats will only demonize the obvious hypocrisy of Senate Republicans, and then start to build their own case for why packing the Supreme Court is justified. Schumer was talking about it earlier on MSNBC. Of course, that first means that they need to win the presidency plus the Senate.

So if Trump makes a nomination, loses the election and the confirmation process drags out until Biden is sworn in - doesn't the nominee deserve a vote or would we not be doing that anymore. Both sides have been on both sides of this issue.

LOL at bolded - the nominee will be attacked; there is zero doubt.

As for packing the court; the hypocrisy is staggering - we weren't in power at the right time so lets change the rules.

I would say yes... but of course, the vote would be done by the new Senate in January of 2021.

You are saying "attacked". I'm saying "scrutinized". I'm not going to squabble over semantics. It's a bitterly divided government right now.
