Yeah, big bodied, 6’3” and never gets in the game during real time, I don’t get it either.

I understand 6-3 and big bodied but right now we need to ask ourselves, Can she compete with the more talented bigs in the SEC and of the other Top teams? And right now KJH don`t think so otherwise she would be playing. Now what her future looks as a lady vol i don`t know nobody knows.

Does anyone on the forum know if the coaches
work individually with each player or is it a sink
Or swim situation.

Someone should ask that if she is not capable of playing this late in the season as a position of need then why did we recruit her? We've gave Emily her shot she failed. Green only played 14 minutes you would think she could go 10 without to much damage.

I think we need to get out of this mentality of if someone can’t provide quality minutes during their freshman year, then they’re never going to make it. That’s just silly.

I think a lot of people in our Fanbase overhyped what they expected from her. Realistically, you are getting from Puckett what many on this board expected to get out of Striplin. Does that mean Puckett would’ve been a failure if the roles were reversed? Of course not. Freshman are freshman, an adjustment to the speed of the college game is different for everyone. I don’t think you can give up on her or the staff regarding her based on what has happened over the course of a season. If it’s the same story at this point next year, then it’s a legitimate discussion. It’s just not right now.

To the person that said she was a transfer candidate, I don’t see that happening under any circumstances.

This is absolutely true, not that you needed me or anyone else to corroborate the claim. There's been a lot of exaggerated, unrealistic claims about potential recruits, declarative statements about dominance and talent and national titles and all manner of stuff. It can be pawned off as "aww shucks, I'm just being positive" but you get enough of that hype echoed by enough folks who don't know any different, and then fifteen games into the season people are going to get really disappointed when said super-hyped recruit doesn't earn Freshman All-SEC honors or average a double double in conference play. "Everyone said they were so good, what happened to them? Why aren't they having an impact?" Just a cascading frenzy of nonsense that didn't need to happen.

And before anyone lumps me in with the hate peddler types, this isn't hate. I'm not saying anyone's a bust. I'm saying that when you have people making declarative statements about these kids, with no evidence to back the claim, just "a feeling," well, you're setting up people for a lot of disappointment.

I think this is very accurate and is about to happen with JUSTINE.
I think people hype up these kids maybe based on what they are doing in HS then when they get to TN they are disappointed in them.
It's one thing to dominate in your HS league but it's completely another to walk into the SEC and do the same as a freshman. It takes time to adjust to a new environment and develop into an SEC caliper player. JMO but you mark my words there will be posters all over this forum next season trashing JUSTINE that she isn't the player they thought she was

Agree wholeheartedly. I couldn't believe some of the claims some posters made about this class. I also can not believe the degree of negativity that is posted for Karoline. IMHO she has the size and frame to be a real good post. From what I've seen she has good feet, BBIQ and she wants to play. If she takes the offseason to change her body in the manner Boston did she will be a welcome addition to a post rotation. I don't think she will be a star but a dependable player that can probably give you 8 and 8 every night.

Some of the expectations for Karoline at the beginning the season were over the top. 14 pts 8 rbds and 6 assts...off the bench in less than 20 min of play. She was doomed from the start in terms of meeting some people's expectations. I think 8 and 8 is a very likely statline by her junior/senior year.

I hope more like 12 and 10 by her junior year..

Some really good posts about setting kids up for “Failure” by overhyping them. I’ll definitely say this is a feeling, not a declarative statement. I feel Striplin and Wynn will be good players for us. I feel like when they come off the bench they want to prove so much they can’t get in a groove. Just a couple minutes at a time is tough too!
I believe Kellie truly has the best interests of the program AND her players at heart and will bring them along in the correct way.

I mean...even Tamari doesn't average 12 and 10. Neither did Bashaara Graves.
However, Bashaara is only one of a handful of LVs to have over 1500 points and over 1000 rebounds. Had the LVs won a national championship during her tenure, Bashaara would be lauded much, much more for having such a great career. Indeed, if Bashaara was the 4 on this current LVs team, the SEC regular season championship, the SEC tournament championship, and the Final Four would be a foregone conclusion. GBO.

I understood her not playing early in the season and up to the point of the Green injury. The worry is that after going through over half a season of practice and the severe need for some post help inside she is not being given much time on the floor. She appears to me to be at least capable of a few minutes based on how she responds to present playing time. I know it is usually mop up duty. I'm certainly not one of the posters claiming she is a bust seen her play enough to know she will be a really good player for us. I guess it just takes some players longer to earn the coaches trust. Certainly the coaches know best just wish they would throw her into the fire and let her give it a try a few minutes per game.

Deer park, every player wants to play. Hope another off season off workouts and training will help. However, it won't help slow twitch and fast twitch. I could see her as a force at a smaller school. Hope she stays a Ladyvol!!! Seems like a really nice girl, like Emily.
