Coach Yo has been at Ole Miss since 2018. I like coach Yo, but She hasn't attracted too many yet or that record over the last 5 years would be a whole lot better. Kellie took over a program that finished 8th in the SEC in 2018, lost to Vanderbilt of all schools had a 19-13 record and almost failed to make the tournament, only to lose in the first round. Tennessee gave Holly almost enough time to Louisiana Tech/Old Dominion us.Whichever way works. These kids like coach Yo. In my opinion she is attracting players. Coach Harper not so much.
I’m feeling like the draw of our legendary program will help us land one or more high profile transfers. Some of you will give the credit to Kellie. I will give it to Tennessee.
You kicking me off the Vol train? I can and have separated the head coach and program for about the last 6 or so years. Don’t be so mean to me OG. LolCan’t separate the two lol. She’s the head coach. Kids are committing to her and the program, whether you like that or not.
Does Ole Miss have a board? Maybe you can get on over there and ride that Yo train you’re so in love with.

That philosophy went out the window the year Holly recruited the only player she could get in Kamera Harris for the 2016 season. The beginning of the end was happening there and by the time they replaced Holly before the 2019 season Tennessee had finished 8th in the SEC and almost didn't make the NCAA tournament and lost in the first round. Kellie stopped the boat from sinking and is fighting to get that legendary status back. That was not going to happen over night.I’m feeling like the draw of our legendary program will help us land one or more high profile transfers. Some of you will give the credit to Kellie. I will give it to Tennessee oh and NIL.
When it’s phrased that way it seems Holly left the program in better shape than some want to admit. Her true evaluation of the company she’s in starts when her players Darby, Striplin, Sara and Justine are on the draft clock. She gets credit for the draft picks, so Holly should get credit for getting them here.Kellie should have her 4th year in a row of number one draft picks next year and 5th year in a row if Tamari stays 2 more years. If Tamari goes next year and Jillian improves the way I suspect she will, she should have 5 1 round draft picks in a row either way.
HARPER IN RARE COMPANY
With Horston's selection at No. 9, Kellie Harper is only the fourth among active women's coaches to have first-round selections in three consecutive drafts and the 10th all-time. UConn's Geno Auriemma, Stanford's Tara VanDerveer and South Carolina's Dawn Staley are the only other active skippers to accomplish that feat.
Former coaches include Ohio State's Jim Foster, North Carolina's Sylvia Hatchell, Georgia's Andy Landers, Notre Dame's Muffet McGraw, Rutgers' C. Vivian Stringer and Tennessee's Pat Summitt. Only Auriemma (3 times) and Hatchell (twice) have gone back-to-back-back more than once.
Only Auriemma and McGraw have had first-round picks in more than three consecutive seasons, with Auriemma doing so four times in a row twice from 2008 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2016, and McGraw enjoying a four-year run from 2012 to 2015. It would appear Harper would have a solid chance to join that small club in 2024, with returnees Rickea Jackson and Tamari Key among a group of potential Lady Vol first-round prospects.
One last time, in spite of any on court or individual player accomplishments, Holly left the program culturally gutted and headed downhill fast. When you have fistfights in the dorm and parents yapping on twitter, the program is not in good shape. Along with re-recruiting Horston, it was Kellie's first big battle. And she's won it to a fantastic degree. All Kellie needs is some big wins. When she gets that, with such a sound cultural foundation, she's in much better shape than a former coach who could claim past E8s but had the cultural ground around her crumbling. When it’s phrased that way it seems Holly left the program in better shape than some want to admit. Seems to have left talent too. I didn’t say anything in regards to her end, just that her final recruits making it to the league. Agree on the wins part, she will truly be judged on her recruits. One last time, in spite of any on court or individual player accomplishments, Holly left the program culturally gutted and headed downhill fast. Debatable… the RJ situation earlier last year wasn’t a good look. Again, I didn’t say it ended great…just that Holly left talent.Well apparently it wasn't in good shape because Westbrook on national tv came out and said
that changes needed to be made. Never
happened while Pat coached and hasn't
happened with Kellie either.
Speaking of ending great, so very predictiable of you to leave out the happy ending to the RJ story. Not a good look early, but ended up being a total culture win when RJ chose to stay and repeatedly praised the coaches and culture. Actually her staying is an even better look bc of the early bad look.Debatable… the RJ situation earlier last year wasn’t a good look. Again, I didn’t say it ended great…just that Holly left talent.
It was a great turnaround for her and big picture the team. She saved what she could with not being the player mentally she was early in the season. Her time her continues on, so the ending isn’t written.Speaking of ending great, so very predictiable of you to leave out the happy ending to the RJ story. But feel free to always leave out any facts or context that don't boost your narrative.
Giving Holly any credit for getting Rennia Davis to the first round is completely inaccurate. Yes she got her here, but Holly left Davis such a dispirited, disoriented mess that we worried for her well being. And that was premise of my first post. Giving credit to those drafted to the one who got them here.
