Kellie Harper discussion/debate thread [merged]

My question is this. Can this coaching staff get the team going in the right direction? Do they want to put in the effort to teach these players how to play the game? I'm not saying the LVs don't have the talent, they just don't have a "team" attitude towards the game. Now, this is the attitude that maybe the coaches have towards their job:
We will win the next game, it's only a matter of time. We don't want high school recruits, it's too much work. First, we have to convince them to come here. Then, we have to evaluate their weaknesses and strengths, then we have to teach them, we have to get them to play together and build chemistry, then we have to get them stronger in the weight room, then we have to get them on the same page as far as learning the LV system. Wow, that's a lot of work, and the worst part is we will have them for 4 years. Constantly working with them, getting them better, teaching them the game.
Well, we don't have to do that. Next year we can pick 2, or maybe 3 players out of the portal. Yeah, that's a lot easier. We don't have to teach them the game, because some other coach already did that for us. We don't know if they can play together, but what the hell, let's just throw them out there and see what happens. Maybe it will work out, but come next year, you have to start all over again, because in most cases, they will only be here for one year, 2 at the most. That to me is laziness.
Incompetency, well that is in the eye of the beholder. I think the fans can figure that out, but if that is the case, a change should be made based on that.
So what do you think? Laziness, incompetency, or both?

Harper is not really a defensive coach where the players guard the three point line and dominate the rebounding column.

Pro coaches don't necessarily make good college coaches. Nikki Collins is doing okay at Baylor, but since she's arrived they're doing nothing that Kim Mulkey used to do regularly. What place did they finish in the Big 12 last year? That was the first year Baylor didn't win it or the tournament and how many years?

We are Tennessee...Exactly why would we go after top assistants?...We should only be going after established head coaches...We are not a learn as you go job...You don't give the keys of a ferrari to a driver who doesn't know how to drive it.
Understandable,, but what top notch coach
Wants to come to Tenn to turn the program
Around.

"former" premier programs
Still a premier program...20 win seasons and being the ONLY program in NCAA history to have made every Big Dance earns the Lady Vols that distinction..Check winningest team stats and other historical data..LV's are all over those numbers..Even in down times, compared to expectations, they still rate the moniker of premier.....

The Lady Vols have won at least a share of the SEC regular season championship 17 times (with the most recent occurrence being in 2015), won 17 SEC tournament championships (with the most recent occurrence being in 2014), made 18 Final Four appearances (with the most recent occurrence being in 2008), and won 8 national championships (with the most recent being in 2008)..
Their all-time record? 1338–326 (.804)...Including 4-5 this season

Flame away........

If Tennessee continues to nose dive, would Harper resign and one of her assistants takes the job on an interim basis?
Ozzie Guillen, MLB, was asked if he was going to resign. His reply was something like, “Are you crazy? I’m going to make them fire me so I can get that buy out money.”
