Kellie Harper discussion/debate thread [merged]

Almost anyone seems better at this point. What about the Colorado coach? The Utah coach? The UCLA coach? V Tech coach? Don’t get me wrong, I want a proven winner, but I don’t see it happening.

It’s a long shot but I’d try for Lindsay Gottlieb at USC. Maybe she could bring Juju with her lol. But even if not, she’s a very good coach. Took Cal to the Final Four before leaving for a job in the NBA.

USC x 2, LSU waiting and SECT
14-8 right now, potentially 12 losses. another slip up and it’s over more than likely unless they can somehow win the SECT. Get ready for the storylines of us making history each game of missing the tournament.
I’ve seen enough, i don’t like the body language at all. It’s like the players don’t care if they lose, some are just playing basketball just to kill time and it’s a scholarship, I’ve been saying this for a long time. Just watch certain other teams when they are losing and tell me the difference in the body language and sense of urgency.

Lindsey Gottlieb is my choice because she can bring Juju Watkins and Kennedy Smith with her. It needs to be a coach that has elite players to bring with them, not someone that has to come a d figure it out.
Would see leave the west coast. Want somebody that makes them both sides of the ball for 4 quarters. There’s coaches out there to get that will do well here.

We may beat the razorbacks but after don’t feel good about the rest

Some players love their coach so she may leave, and that must be part of the deal. Another good thing that will happen with a new coach is that most of these players will transfer out, we only need Spear to stay. Now I would hope Finley Chastain would stay committed to us with a different coach, I think she’s going to be the real deal.

I’m hoping Danny gets on the phone with Finley tonight and explain what’s about to happen after this season and she understands and stays committed! 😂

I hope so, I don’t usually watch high school games but I do watch every game she plays now. The other day she hit 5 3’s in the 1st quarter and remember she’s only a freshman.

we need a change by all means..... but with the condition

IF we seek to compete at the highest national level.....

if we want to perform at a pedestrian level Coach Harper will do just fine

Can somebody explain the recruiting of Cambridge to Louisville and how she ended up flipping to Ohio St. I know the conventional wisdom was she was a lock to that program and much was made of a possible NIL deal for her at Louisville. Then all of a sudden she is Ohio St bound. All that time and energy Walz spent at every public award and event Cambridge and her entourage was at seemed to not phase her going to Ohio
ST after she was a lock for Louisville. The people at John Paul II and Ensworth who dealt with her family over the years could have told him what the score was because they dealt with that family over the years. I guess it was about where her sister was going to end up.

He also lost Van Lith to LSU in the transfer portal. I ask these question because he seems to be a crowd favorite for many people that seem to have only a passing interest in the wbb team. I know Walz loves to go on the sports talk radio in the Louisville area talking about everything but women's bb. I suppose that means he gives good interview and appeals to the sports talk people who have always been big fans of womens bb. Another name bounced around is Wes Moore, he came from Maryville via Johnson Bible College, maybe he can save their souls, wonder if he can recruit top tier bb talent to UT? Me if I could control who we hire it would be Dawn Staley, but she has a good gig. If I was in control of the next hire and I could not poach Staley it would be someone who has a WNBA pedigree as a player or coach.

BRING ME KENNY BROOKS

Brooks has been good, very good, at JMU and now Va. Tech. My only hesitation would be that he's 55 and already been a head coach for 22+ years. You'd hate to hire a guy like this and he have him the burn-out wall in four or five years.

Purcell is 10/11 years younger and in the coaching age sweet spot. Has only 2 years of head experience--a worry--but is said to be a very good recruiter and would bring a high-energy level, I'm sure.
