Kent stepping away from the program

They were just plain ugly shots. Idk if he’s just in a slump, or if he feels the pressure now because he’s finally getting some meaningful playing time. But we’ll see if he ever figures it out

Bad shooting game for a good shooter
It happens

Likely pressed a little imo

Lol

You haven’t been watching enough. Johnson is our best 3 pt shooter statistically speaking at over 40% for his career WITH THE LIGHTS ON.

Good grief the kid goes 0/3 and posters think he can’t shoot all of a sudden

i don't think we can say how good of a shooter he is when he's shot less than 40 3s in his 3 years here.

also keep in mind that nearly all of his 3s have been wide open.

Tennessee doesn’t have a lot of “big men” and are certainly thin at center, with Fulk being the only true center option. However Tennessee does have a lot of size and length overall.....and that should help a lot.

For size Tennessee has: 6-2, 6-5, 6-6, 6-6, 6-6, 6-7, 6-8, 6-9, and 6-10.

Pember is 6-10, if there ever was a 6-10 player.

Tennessee can also play some zone if needed. They have that and work at it.

Don’t get me wrong Tennessee could have really used Plavsic this season; however I don’t think the “size” will be a big problem......unless Fulk gets in foul trouble early or if he gets injured.
Unless Fulk gets in foul trouble? It’s not a matter of if but when.

No doubt the more he shoots that 40% number will come down but the good news is he doesn’t need to shoot more. Just take a few a game and he can help.

It’s just way off base to point toward one bad 0/3 game and say he has a foot out the door Because he can’t shoot with the lights on. That’s dumb

In all seriousness, Zach Kent is the NCAA poster boy for why student athletes do not deserve compensation. He has had a scholarship for three years and I am not sure he has made three shots.

CRB told the world over a year ago in an interview that he felt like his ultimate roster would roughly be all 6'5" to 6'9" so they could switch everything

Ok. Please just transfer and leave. Guy has hardly played in over 3 years...rumors of him being hurt, rumors of him being unhappy, personal issues etc. I don’t really care anymore at this point which one it is. You are wasting our time and roster space at this point Kent and we don’t want you to just “step away.” Please just leave for good, and take all of the wishy washy BS with you

I’ve never heard a rumor of him being unhappy. Just not fair to say that imo.

He just was never good enough to play here and has kept his nose clean and deserves being supported at his next stop imo

I heard rumors of him being unhappy after Burns and Walker left...when Plavsic came in and immediately got more run in practice than he (Kent) did. So it is fair to me at this point. Good luck with future endeavors, but not at UT.

Pretty sad that Pember is considered a better option at this point in your career
In 8 minutes, 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Better game this early in his career than JJ has ever had. I'm guessing than unless Johnson becomes a 3-point surgeon soon, he has what minutes he is getting now stripped away by others.

JJ plays better perimeter defense. Pember is a better rim protector.

I wish the kid the best of luck, but as far as this season is concerned I don't think it means much. I know we are thin in the post, and he was an extra body, but in the limited minutes we've seen of Kent he seems to be a liability on defense and inconsistent on offense. He'd get eaten alive in SEC Play and probably wouldn't play much. As far as I'm concerned, this means we have an extra scholarship to give to Vescovi if he chooses to come, and if not, it's an extra scholarship for the 2020 class.

Need Plavsic bad now. Sounded like it was Kent's decision

Pember will likely be fine. He seems to be hustling and is tougher than he looks.

Or he finally realized the hard work isn’t with the payoff

If that be the case, I don't think he would have the full support of the program. Who knows? He might be like Elvis, and working undercover for the CIA. Crazy? Sure. But in a way, my theory makes more sense than yours.

exactly how i'm looking at it as well.

don't understand what all the fuss is about, he probably wasn't going to see meaningful minutes unless Pember, Fulkerson, Pons, and Nkamhoua were all in foul trouble / injured.

Yeah but he needs to get stronger. Not much bigger than he was in HS yet.

ZK and JJ have contributed absolutely nothing, so if they don’t have the skills and work ethic, then best wishes to them and they will be better off somewhere else, UT and CRB is will be better off also.

Agreed. His scholarship can be used better elsewhere on this team

Yeah I’d expect a RS Soph could put up those #s against Alabama St. But he’s not even finding the floor.

JJ is a good 3pt shooter. The problem is the rest of his game. He’s another one who has an opportunity to be a significant contributor but he’s not masking the most of it. Could really use him.
