Butch Davis is down here now as well @FIU. The recruiting scene is gonna get very interesting here in the next couple years.

Richt, Davis, Strong, & Kiffin.

At least the days Florida croots slipping through the cracks may finally be over

Do people not realize this helps us in regards to McElwain recruiting? With Strong, Davis and now Kiffin in South Florida, this makes Gator recruiting much much harder.

For FAU this is a huge boost in recruiting. being able to cover broward and dade county hes "popular" enough where those kids who arent 4 and 5 * but are still solid florida athletes will flock there. they have a beautiful new stadium too. USF anf FAU just made recruiting even more difficult for UM FSU UF imo.

Don't put to much into it.
He might get 1 but high caliber guys won't fall over people trying to get there.

You are forgetting one significant factor...

TV time.

How much does FAU get? It's not always about the coaches, but how much exposure one can get to improve said draft stock.

Im heavily involved in broadcasting the highschool football scene in South Florida. i watched FAU scoop up 4 stud players from Boyd Anderson High school a few years back and were going to sign Eddie Jackson the stud safety at Bama. Before he was recruited pretty much out of nowhere by bama he was on the straight track to FAU to play with his highschool qb Hankerson who eventually transferred from FAU.

Trust me when i say the kids from the inner city schools in broward and dade that aren't getting looked at by big power 5 schools love to go to the Boca area / Boca campus lifestyle. Alot of these kids end up at schools like North Dakota State or walk on at the bigger schools. i dont expect a dalvin cook from Miami central to sign there but with the talent down here he will scoop players up that want to stay in state.

Spears said basically the same thing as it relates to Kiffin. A guy like him going to FAU doesent seem right either he was told to go or Kiffin wanted to.

Will he get some people that they wouldn't normally get sure but let's not kid ourselves with the idea that FAU can go punch for punch with others in Florida and come out on top because of Kiffin.

truthfully alot of these kids know they arent going to the league, they want to play and get into a school. the best kids get scooped up but the leftovers still want to play and will go where they get a scholarship. i personally watched calvin ridley play his junior year here in coconut creek and the WR opposite of him played just as well as he did and 1 is a star at the best school in the country the other is....who knows where.

No doubt he'll get talent and probably make his QB look better than he really is but if this goes longer than 3 yrs I'll be shocked

Not going to lie I had the same thought.

How many does it actually hold?

stadium only hold 30,000 but it was just recently renovated and expanded. i've been to a few games because how close it is in regards to my location and watched a few high school playoff games there its a really nice stadium.

im not under any impression Kiffin will turn FAU into some kind of force to be reckoned with. but it is just fascinating that a coach with his recruiting talents and flashy/ polarizing type will be literally less than 5 miles from broward county where TONS of Power 5 schools drool over getting players. That is huge that he is a 10 min drive which blows out even the canes having to come up from coral gables, huge for in home and more personal relationships.

just to name a few schools that pump out D1 talent a stone throw from FAU.
St Thomas Aquinas
Deerfield beach high
Blanche Ely
Dillard
Pompano Beach
Boyd Anderson
South Plantation

and Dade County which has way too many to name
Central
Northwestern
Miramar
Miami Jackson
Etc

throw in Strong at USF and Butch at FIU.. the state of Florida will be a battleground!

Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger...

Generational players. Sometimes the scouts get it wrong, hell, even D4H gets it wrong (tongue in cheek) and players at small universities go way higher than expectations.

But even without TV coverage, Wentz had plenty of hype around him last year.

You laugh, but that's 1/10th of NFL starters.

Let's go ahead and add Derek Carr, Blake Bortles, Paxton Lynch, Jimmy Garoppolo and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Never laughed.
Ben and Flaco pull thier own weight
He'll some could make a case for Ben to be the best Steeler QB ever.
Derek Carr is solid
The rest aren't.
Fitzpatrick is probably out of a job at seasons end.

I'll admit it's a lot nicer than I expected.
