Smart's name has come up in the rumor mill with every job opening for the past couple of years. If he was sooo great and so ready to become the next great head coach, why hasn't he taken anybody up on these job openings?Kirby Smart is what Muschamp was a couple years ago. Gus Malzahn just a couple years ago. He is what just about every top HC was just before they got their chance to be a head coach. You are usually a coordinator before your a HC(unless your Dooley). While he would not be my top choice, I think he makes this team 50% better the day he is hired. 50% would have had this team fighting for the SEC east. We just need a capable coach. Alot of teams think an awful lot of Kirby Smart. If he is the man hired, we go into 2103 with a better chance than we had this year IMO.

Either he doesn't want any of them because they aren't in Athens, or he isn't offered any of them because no AD's think he's worth what he's asking in salary.
If we get another bammer after this sunseri debacle, we may as well go full bore. Hire Kirby Smart as HC, keep sunseri in his current position, and hire dave clawson back for OC.
Much the same with alot of coaches. It has to be the right opening at the right time. If I am a DC at Bama winning championships and making a million dollars a year, it's going to take a great offer from the right school and alot of money for me to walk away from that. I have no idea IF he has been offered any jobs in the past. His name does come up alot when schools are looking for coaches.
Kirby Smart most likely will replace Dooley (according to what I've heard)
I have some Bama friends, since I live in crimson state, that told me last year Saban told people Smart would be the coach at UT after the 2012 season. I laughed it off last year, but with Hart coming from Alabama maybe this has been in the works for a while now. If he wins, I'll love it. If he doesn't then I'll want the History channel to investigate the Crimson Tide UT conspiracy with video of the grassy knoll on the Hill.
What part of 1-13 over the last two years of competition in this conference do you find acceptable enough to retain the current head coach?
If the complaints are incessant, then it is because of the performance of the head coach and his program.
If you aren't complaining now, then the question needs to be asked:
Why aren't you complaining?
