Yes, but 99.9 percent of the sporting world simply said we/Peyton choked. That will be the narrative about Georgia. I've already seen articles saying that about them.
Narratives? Articles from "sports journalists"? Well then it must be gospel since some dweeb who probably never played a down in his life wrote about it online or in SI..............

Now days it's probably not a good strategy to allow "journalists" to shape your opinion on pretty much anything.. That's just my opinion though...

Because things look great when a highly rated QB goes to Georgia only to be replaced by S damn Bennett.
Who cares...just look at the track record of Bama WRs. Even when they didn't have great QB play they had guys like Julio Jones.

I guess what I'm getting at more specifically is why he didn't go to Alabama, given where he went to HS. It would seem like a no-brainer given their track record with WRs.

Kirby's main issue other than not being a good game day coach is he has some kind of weird fetish for Georgia high school QBs. He went and recruited some of the best in the nation, Eason and Fields, and then promptly sat them down behind a much less talented Fromm and good ol Georgia boy. We saw how well that worked out for him. Then this year here he has what was a very talented QB with experience at USC benched for what else? A good ol' walk on Georgia boy who in his own mind thought he had SEC foot speed until TooToo squashed that idea like a bug. Kirby's good ol' Georgia went out and produced exactly what Fromm did on the big national championship stage, nothing. Bennett is a weakness at QB compared to his counterpart Young at Bama. Now does Kirby damn the torpedoes and put Bennett back out there if they get lucky to see Bama again or make the change at QB? Bama was playing with them in the 2nd half getting the UGA offense to show them everything and they did. They've got one weapon on offense that can play at Bama's level and it's their TE #19. Bama shuts him down easily if they meet again.

At this point it should be obvious even to the most homer Georgia fan that unless Bennett is injured he will start the next game.

The most fun part about kirby is he owes EVERYONE. They can't get rid of him, he's in debt up to his eyeballs. He owes the school, he owes the boosters, he owes recruits, he owes the fans, he owes the commish, and he owes disney. Georgia will be paying off his debt for a very long time.

Does this finally end the debate that a great defense is more important that a great offense (assuming you have a great QB to lead that offense).
The problem with having a great offense/QB is that the QB can have an off game or a injury where as the great defensive team is more consistent.

That great Georgia Defense had 0 sacks against Bama...at least we had 2 sacks.

I think the idea that a great defense is more important than a great offense died in the early/mid 2000s when the pass interference and illegal hit rules were changed to favor the offense.

And I don’t think your argument makes since if you use last night’s game as evidence. Last night, the great defense got destroyed by a great QB.

I doubt Kirby and the UGA staff caught it but they baited Bennett to throw to 19 over the middle for their pick 6. They showed double safeties over the top with single coverage over the middle but the Bama safeties played zone. They delivered a message they could shut down that throw over the middle most any time they wanted to but it became UGA's only weapon. LOL UGA's staff is just not all that.

Uh...the stats cited are why many think it is a choke job. This wasn't thought to be one of Saban's best teams, and it was thought to absolutely be Kirby's best team.
It is his best team, but it’s not infinitely better than the Saban team. Not accounting for who all is and isn’t left on each roster, the last 5 classes for each rank 2.2 and 2.8 as an average respectively. There’s virtually no talent difference and we all know one has a much better coach. The last statement doesn’t mean Kirby isn’t a good coach but what knock is it to say he’s not as good as Saban when NOBODY is.

LOL, love the Excuses for Kirby Committee Chairman educating us this morning. Jimbo Fisher says "hi."

First 6 years:

Richt- 61-17 34-14 in conference. Won back to back East titles in 2002-2003. Another SECE title in 2005. 2 SEC titles. 4-2 in bolw games. No Nick Saban at Bama.

Smart- 64-15. 40-9 in conference. Went 8-0 in SEC play this year. Richt never did that. 3 straight SECE titles (something Richt never did). 1 SEC title. As of now 4-1 in bowl games. Already played for a NC. Has had to deal with Nick Saban at Bama.

Stats prove you wrong.
Kirby finally, just this year passed Richt’s overall record. Yes there was no Saban during the start of Richt’s career but the East was much tougher back the as well between us and Florida. Even SC got decent for a while during Richt’s career. Then, the back half of of his tenure he had to deal with Saban and Meyer, among others. The SEC was stronger during Richt’s tenure. With that said, Kirby is a little better overall but UGA didn’t fire Richt and hire Kirby to play second fiddle to Bama. Through 5 seasons they have the same number of NCs and Richt has 2 SEC titles to Kirby’s 1. That’s what matters to UGA fans. We will see how year 6 finishes for Kirby but I’m betting there won’t be a NC.
