Knoxville Restaurants

Random question:

Does anyone know why Krispy Kreme in Farragut closed after only being open for 3 years?

My guess is high-dollar space with a very limited offering of high-carb/high-fat food with a number of breakfast competitors and other ways to get donuts (grocery stores, gas stations, etc).

Dunkin' at least has good coffee and healthier options (breakfast sandwiches, etc). You've got Panera, First Watch, Egg and I, etc in the area too.

My kids love donuts for a treat, but we probably only went there twice. I go to Dunkin, grab a dozen with a cold brew coffee and an egg white turkey sausage flat bread on the weekends.

Farragut didn't want them there in the first place. Also, quality of the donuts and the employees there were not very good. A lot of people still went to the Bearden one.

Yeah, I saw one review online where they wouldn't even give the guy a senior discount. They made him wait there for a while only to tell him they can't give him the discount and proceeded to hand him a box of now cold donuts.

Plan is for Dairy Queen to move back in the Knoxville similar to how Bojangles came back.

Should be quite a few stores opening next few years.

The PTA's and AARP gangs out west are violent. You better watch out.

Listen: the school drop-off line in the morning would test the mettle of even a seasoned NASCAR driver. Every time I get stuck with the job, I swear it will be the last.

The only DQ I frequent is the one in Monticello, GA. I pass through there on my way to the coast. It's a time trip. Best darn DQ on the planet.

Elk loin at Lonesome Dove. Shaved fowl carpaccio, rattlesnake-rabbit sausage, yellowtail tostadas to start. It was unbelievable! Not cheap, but unlike anything else around and worth every penny.

PS: try the Sullivan Smoker cocktail.

Everything sounds good, but I looked at the Sullivan Smoker and I just don't see what makes it great. It's a classic Manhattan with what seems like a small twist with some kind of smokiness added

It's brought out on a board with smoking wood chips beneath a glass dome. Sounds hokey, but the smoke really infuses the Manhattan, which is already the perfect cocktail :)

How do you locals live without a decent seafood restaurant. Or am I just not finding them? I know there is a captain Ds and bonefish but chain seafood places are terrible. Any suggestions?

Well there's that little spot downtown called Chesapeake's

You see this all the time on cooking shows.

I'd ask if you are looking for a particular seafood dish?

First off, Bonefish is not terrible.

As mentioned, Chesapeake's is probably the most dedicated quality seafood restaurant around. There are plenty of other options, though. Conner's, Lakeside, Seasons, the Oliver Royale, 5, Flemming's, and Citico's all offer excellent seafood dishes. 5 actually has some partnership with a marina restaurant in Destin, I believe. The Shrimp Dock stocks a variety of fresh fish and has great casual/carryout po-boys, etc. Nama has the best sushi and also does some nice cooked entrees.

Hope this helps.
