Picked up a gyro and pork in a pita from Gondolier last night. The gyro was fabulous. The pork, just OK.
The Gondolier is a decent place to go to. They're known mostly for their Italian food. The last time we got food there was some time last year I think but their menu always shocks me. They have like 5 pages packed full of dishes and when you're hungry it's hard to pick. They could easily trim some fat from that menu and you'd still have a large selection.

as I'm reading this, I could hear Gordon Ramsay telling restaurant owners that their menus are ridiculously large and need to be trimmed down on Kitchen Nightmares
I agree....too many choices. I usually just get the zorba special.
However, If you see their baklava cheesecake in the desert case, you must give it a try.
nope, same recipe for 20+ years...I don't think they will change it
I know, him and Robert Irvine both.
I have not tried that, I'll try and remember it.
Alright then, no offense but Copper Cellar Family Restaurants beer cheese will always be the better recipe. They also sell it at the stadium which is delicious when you go to a game.
WAIT JUST A DAMN MINUTE, SIR.
Did you say they sell beer cheese in the stadium?
I must know where.
Just out of curiosity what did you order and how do you compare Calhouns fare to Connors?
The menu is boring. So to answer your question, went to Connor's last week and between the wife & I we ordered: Lobster & Crab bisque, Chilean sea bass, & Parmesan crusted halibut.
At Calhoun's it was blah blah blah. The best dish wash the catfish.
Anywhere they sell pretzels at Neyland they sell Calhoun's beer cheese on the side. It costs extra I think like $3, but it's definitely worth it.
If I'm not mistaken I believe they sell it at Thompson-Boling Arena as well.
Yeah, they're completely different restaurants I wouldn't compare the two personally. It's hard to beat the quality of food you get from Connors, I'll be the last person to argue that as it's one of my faves. Calhoun's does certain items very well. Pretzels and beer cheese!, spinach Maria, corn pudding, House Ale Steak, catfish, baked cinnamon apples, banana pudding, key lime pie, most of their chicken dishes, pulled pork is decent, sadly their ribs are hit or miss it seems to depend on what day you go in there.
