Knoxville Restaurants

Wow.

Well, I look stupid. My wife always goes to the concession stand, and she has neglected to inform me of this.

Its honest to God Calhoun's beer cheese?

Yes.

Not really comparing other than if I'm going to spend money in a restaurant I'd go somewhere better than Calhoun's. Usually I go out of convenience but never eat other than apps. Last night we went for dinner and I wasn't impressed.

I understand.

That's if you ever actually receive the salad...

Lol! Maybe I should have asked which Calhoun's you guys went to?

I did have a bread nazi waitress at the Pellissippi Calhoun's when I went. I was meeting some friends and I arrived early. I ordered a diet coke and asked for some bread while I waited. "Oh, well we have to wait until you order". I totally understand the idea behind that rule but this chic was guarding the bread like the gates or Mordor. I'm not going to eat a corn muffin and then just order a salad woman trust me. No bread for you!!

I'll chime in on the Calhoun's debate: the only reason to go is for the weekday lunch buffet. I take my nurses and staff once or twice a year during slow season and we sit out back by the marina. The afternoon does move a little slow after that meal, though.

I used to work there during the summers when I was in college. I racked up on tips during lunch buffets.

At least we don't have to look at that hotel behind it anymore. Total eyesore.

I'm surprised that bit of land wasn't taken long before now. Maybe the hotel owned it previously and recently sold that portion off.

On buffets?!

Hahahaha! It's in the past now, might as well elaborate?

Back in the day they didn't keep track of how many people they served during a lunch buffet....especially if the patrons paid in cash. A year later they wised up and tracked it so the tickets turned in needed to match the number served in your section.

Coming to Knoxville in a couple weeks. Which is better dead end BBQ or archers?

Dead End for brisket, chicken thighs, and sides. Archers is great for for quick take-out, Sweet P's is very good too. I haven't had great ribs anywhere in town, aside from home.

M & M's Catering and BBQ! Take out only or eat in your car for lunch. 4 stars on Google, Facebook, and Yelp. 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor.
