Knoxville Restaurants

Archers is good stuff. Disregard BigDaddy's comment on Archers. I'd take their ribs any day. The Memphis sauce is good.

West Knox has a Full Service BBQ but looking like it'll be 2020 before it opens.

Archers ribs, not so much. Sweet Ps anyday over those steamed soggy mess of pork

The Archer's off 75 isn't that great. I also don't think they have items that one out west offers.

I don't understand the Knoxville BBQ scene, honestly. Everything I've had has been mediocre to terrible.

Maybe Nashville has spoiled me.

M&M BBQ off Middlebrook is the best in my opinion. Who We Are

edited - Hyperlink says "who we are" but I'm not affiliated. Great folks and great food though...check them out if you've never eaten there.

Best thing Tomato Head does is that killer peanut butter pie. I agree it is pricey.

I'm liking the votes I'm seeing for Archers. I haven't been there yet. Was it the one in Farragut someone was talking about where the food is great but the service is a bunch of teens who couldn't care less or something?

Yeah, last time I picked up food, I was fairly convinced they *might* have been a little high. Not that I really care about service when I'm picking up a to-go order, though.

Cosmo's "Best of the Best 💁🏻" doesn't count

Cosmo's has great tips, man.

There is some terrible BBQ in Nashville, for sure. A lot of it is stellar, however, and is recognized as such by publications that rate such things.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All of it is junk compared to stuff Memphis has.

I would put Sweet Ps up against Memphis. It's solid. Hardly what I would call junk. Saying Memphis is the only place for BBQ is equivalent to saying Nashville is the only place for country music. All hype

it's only "all hype" if it doesn't deliver every damn time

Memphis is more of a pork city. Nashville had a fair amount of everything, kinda like Knoxville. Hard to compare, imo. I somehow managed to go to Memphis without trying any of the places. Not sure how I pulled that off.

I would love to take a brisket tour of Texas.

I had Sweet P's once and it isn't even in the same ballpark as Commissary, Central or Interstate, IMO. Maybe being raised on Memphis BBQ has me a little biased. I've had Nashville BBQ once at a place downtown and it wasn't bad.

What was the name of that BBQ joint ~ENE of downtown Nashville in the '70s?
The offered sides which included both red and white beans with bits of 'que and fluffy little hoe cakes the size of a soda lid.

You remember the place in Nashville?

So Bruce Bogartz chose to leave Primo in the Sunsphere to open up his new concept Tata Creole Corner at 1328 N. Broadway.

TaTa is good if you haven't been by there. Solid cajun/creole food. It's a tiny place with very little seating.

Want a good night? Pick up some Tata's to go and dine at Schulz Brau around the corner.

I haven't heard much about Schultz Brau.

Brother gets around, no?

Based on what I've learned about him over the years he might be a little fickle.
I read an article tonight where he said he liked to cook food and converse with his patrons.
