Knoxville Restaurants

Based on what I've learned about him over the years he might be a little fickle.
I read an article tonight where he said he liked to cook food and converse with his patrons.

I have always enjoyed his cooking, and he's been very accommodating to my wife's dietary restrictions (Celiac disease -- gluten-free preparation). I've met him many times and he always seems to be genuinely interested in pleasing his patrons. That being said, I have no intel into his relations with his business ventures. I've heard through the grapevine that he might be hard to work with, which is sad, given his gift for the craft.

If you go to a city and the locals say "you don't need to go to __________ or __________ because their food sucks" and you voluntarily go there anyway, you can't blame the city for having mediocre food. You blame yourself for still choosing the few places that don't meet the city's standard.

In the rest of the state of Tennessee, you have to mention where the good barbecue is. In Memphis, you have to mention where the bad barbecue is. That's really all that needs to be said.

bigdaddy, are you that guy that walks into a restaurant and all the servers duck and hide because they don't want any part of you?

Ate at Lonesome Dove again last night after the game. Chef Tim Love is legit. Everyone's beef was perfect (tenderloin and Elk loin), the apps were outstanding (rabbit/rattlesnake sausage, Hamachi tostadas, and lobster hushpuppies), and our family-style sides (roasted cauliflower with truffle fondue and orzo mac-and-cheese) played no second-fiddle.

We were convinced to try dessert, and Love's award-winning dark chocolate cake with chili powder was pretty much divine.

I might ask for the Wagyu tomahawk ribeye dinner as my birthday gift.

We switched things up a little for the official Thanksgiving Day Holiday as we typically do our extended family get together just outside of the actual holiday. We decided to go to Flemings and it was delicious. They offered an actual Thanksgiving Day meal with Turkey and gravy and all but I personally can't go to Flemings and order turkey, it's just not happening. 12 oz prime filet, cooked medium rare with a cast iron crust, and Flemings mashed potatoes... Boom! One of us actually got the Turkey dinner but they said it was a bit on the dry side so extra gravy was requested. Another excellent meal for me. My sister saw Dobbs and his mom and dad there as well as she helped hold the door open for his mom, I unfortunately missed them.

glad you enjoyed the occasion with your family

Thank you! Were you able to enjoy your Holiday?

It's kind of interesting. Up until last year I had NEVER gone to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. It was always a holiday where you stayed at home and hung out with family and most places were closed. I always just assumed nobody really went out for Thanksgiving. My experiences the last two years, the first being at Copper Cellar West, have proven my assumptions to be absolutely false. Both Cooper Cellar last year and Flemings the other night were absolutely packed. A lot of people either just don't have time to cook a meal, or don't have the means to, or for other various reasons would rather go out.

It was a great Thanksgiving, thanks for asking....Brought my kids to Clarksville and Nashville

Will watch the vols tonight and head back to NWA tomorrow

Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon Gatlinburg
2 hrs ·
It is with great sadness that we can confirm that the Alamo in Gatlinburg is completely gone. There is plenty of video out there of it burning to the ground, but I really don't feel like watching it again so I'm not posting it here. Thankfully no one was injured.
We will rebuild.
