Under no circumstance should anyone go to the Chili's in Turkey Creek. My list of reasons is so long that I don't feel like typing it all out. Just take my word.

The location it replaced wasn't bad. You know. For a Chili's.

Give a couple. Just out of curiosity.

Boring/no classic vintage Chili's paraphernalia
Words and pictures of their food as decor
25 minute wait although multiple open tables
Table weight of approximately 2 pounds so it slid every time the kids touched it
Out of salsa
No refill offered on drinks
30 minutes to get mediocre food

Charge added to bill for "table entertainment" (kids playing on the nasty tablet)

To top it off, the waitress made sure to tell and show at least three times the total amount before she discounted the kids' meals they had a coupon for.

Sounds like an average Chili's experience.

add the chocolate lava cake, and it will make up for all that :)

The tablet thing I knew about but the rest I'm confused. They could have easily taken the decor from the Chili's at Pellissippi and put it in the new one. I'd recommend anyone going to Chili's or Olive Garden to have the server remove the tablet from their table altogether. I also have a problem with swiping my own credit card on said tablet. If you insist on having me do this it will be deducted from your tip. I didn't go to a sit down restaurant to check myself out of it as though I'm at a Sonic drive-thru window.

That seems oddly extreme. IMO the existence of a quick-pay ability gives the customer the power to leave quickly if necessary. I'm guessing they added the tablets to reassure guests that their lunch service will be as streamlined as possible to get them in and out and able to get back to work

Honestly, it's the first time we have eaten at a place that has a table tablet. There should be a notification or something that requires parents to authenticate before charging for the kids messing with them. I figured it was their way of keeping the little ones busy while they screwed around preparing food for half an hour.

So, you know, the server can steal your credit card info if they desire.

I would love to swipe my own not only for getting out quickly but also security

I understand the possible convenience of it but I don't think it belongs in a sit down restaurant where you're being served. I had a server at Olive Garden that insisted on "walking me through using it".

If you had brought it up they might have removed the dollar charge but I can understand why you wouldn't even bother at that point given your experience.

In truth, any given person at any time that you hand your card to can steal your number.

Those tablets also sit there on the table unattended so someone could easily put a skimmer on the tablet as well.

I could totally see that being an initiative forced on them by management which is in turn forced on management by district management

You guys missed it. Bigdaddy hosted trivia tonight at the Downtown Grill & Brewery. He fills in for Big Paul from time to time. Ask him to play Apple Bottom Jeans & you may get to see some sweet dance moves...

I'm sure most of it probably is corporate driven but this particular guy was a little aggressive. Aside from my opinion on paying with them I have a problem with those tabletop tablets in general. We have enough devices and smartphones in our lives distracting us from actual real life, let's not further discourage face to face interaction by putting these things on the tables.

I was being mostly facetious, but if you don't involve extra human beings in your transaction, it is going to be more secure by nature.

If you don't like them just turn them around and set them on the edge of the table when you arrive.

Shameless plugs are not only allowed but encouraged.

I know that Montezuma's Revenge is when you get the runs because of drinking the water in Mexico. But what do you call having to take a huge, never-ending dump after eating at Cracker Barrel a couple weeks after eviscerating everything that is Cracker Barrel on a Tennessee football message board?

Asking for a friend
