Knoxville Restaurants

As a second job? I would have thought they would pull bartenders from other Copper Cellar restaurants to train.

Second job, yeah. She hadn't seen the menu yet, but her guess is that it's something like southern comfort food. She trained the last two days at Copper Cellar in Turkey Creek. And she believes they're doing friends and family Thursday, then a soft opening over the weekend.

Lol! Which Copper Cellar in Turkey Creek, Brewery or Calhoun's?
They posted some pics on Twitter of a few of the dishes they're going to offer. https://twitter.com/cornersixteen?lang=en

I have been driving by Honeybee Coffee in Farragut a lot lately and the place is always packed so curiosity got the better of me and I had to stop in. Once again, it was freaking packed. It was also worth it! I am not a coffee connoisseur by any means, preferring to make my own (cheaply!) at home so take my comments with a grain of salt, but the hot drip Egyptian coffee was really tasty. Not insanely hot, but definitely a different flavor than I am used to.

The best part though would be the donuts. These things are heavy and dense, not overly sweet but the coatings are really well done. We grabbed chocolate ganache, matcha and honey, and a vanilla. All were fantastic and set off an argument about which was better (it was the matcha and honey!). They also had blueberry and basil, interesting combos, great flavors.

Anyway try it...the hot drip coffee is like 3.50. I buy a bag of my coffee at Aldi's for not much more than that and make it in a french press, but theirs is obviously better. Nice for a change of pace. Not up on coffee prices, that seems on the high side I guess but probably in line with every other coffee place around.

They also have 10 beers on tap and and a full selection of bottles, so you don't have to go just for coffee!

Yeah I saw that! We decided it was time for a babysitter one night soon and we can hit it up. Place is really doing some business.

Finally made it to A Dopo before a show at the Mill and Mine. Insanely good pizza. The wait was nearly an hour due to a large party/event, but worth the wait. If you like the sound of a light, thin, 1000 degree-charred crust with simple crushed tomato or white mascarpone base, fresh mozzarella, and high-end toppings, check it out.

Oh man...that's my kind of pizza place. Thin crust, fresh tomato sauce, arugula, & prosciutto...yessir!

I get the best pizza crusts from the Dollar Tree (believe it or not). They're super thin.

Put the plate setter on the Egg flat side up. Put small spacers on it, and put the pizza stone on it to allow air to circulate under it. Crank it up to 6-700 degrees. You can crank out a pizza with that crust in about 5 minutes.

Green Eggs get to 700 degrees? Holy smoke.

I wish I had taken pictures. Go there next time you are in town. Have a drink at the Public House while you wait for a table.

Also overrated, and insanely overpriced for what you get. And definitely not worth the wait. I'd have been pissed had I waited an hour for the privelefge of getting gouged when it came time to pay up.

In Knoxville, there's Hard Knox and then there's everything else when it comes to wood fired pizza (and I think it's a little overpriced too).

The Mill and Mine, however, is legit. Great place for a show, no doubt there.

This is a far better solution than A dopo. Don't waste your time changing things up.

I agree that it's a little on the steep side, but none of the six guys in my party were disappointed at all. I love Hard Knox, too, but it's certainly different. I would rank them 1a/1b, with a slight edge to HK for toppings and AD for crust.
