Knoxville Restaurants

The elk entree is the shizzle. Ditto on the Brussels, but Citico's are dang good too. They use a little sweet chili sauce and pork belly.

I have actually made my own version of the Smoker by firing a couple JD barrel chips on the grill when cooking, then putting them and a Manhattan under a pie plate cover for a couple minutes. Came out nice, but probably lacked the presentation...

A "like" for the effort. When I 1st got my BGE I was smoking everything. I even, carefully, smoked a 1/5 of vodka....with predictable results. I didn't burn down the neighborhood but didn't let the coals burn down enough to NOT emit that nasty taste.

There's a little extra effort in that drink, but they're all overpriced at any restaurant. That's where the money is.

That's fair. I guess just looking at the liquors being used, I'd have thought they'd up the quality a little bit. Maybe Knob Rye or something else just a little more worth the price

Is this a joke? Please tell me it's not.

My best friend's uncle spoke with him for a few minutes at Jig & Reel last night. He knows Boyd and Boyd texted him to run to the bar to meet him. Said that he was turned away at a fancy restaurant across the street for not having a reservation.

If they were full, why should he bump the people that had a reservation?

In my opinion, it's a good business move to have someone of his stature eat at your establishment and enjoy it.

I'm quite certain he could have someone call ahead and make arrangements. I doubt Ford is unaware of the dining reservation process. What peon would you have them boot in his place?

Regardless, I don't need a celebrity to tell me whether or not a place is good. The restaurant seems to be doing great.

... Plus, he let his whiny Emo son put a light saber through one of my childhood heroes, so he dropped a bit in stature.

He was sitting at Jig and Reel and asked where he should go eat. He was told to go across the street. Also I've never been there. Are they such a small establishment that you'd anticipate them being at capacity on a Tuesday after New Years?

I feel honored they let in a Knoxville native like myself. Suck it Han :)

When we went last week we had a reservation but probably wouldn't have needed one as there were tables available

Yeah, this is what I don't get. They couldn't squeeze him in? They were really full on Jan 2nd? Hard to believe but oh well.

Enjoyed Kitchen 919 this weekend.

I had sea bass, the wife had duck 3 ways and my MIL had chicken. All 3 were excellent, as well as the shrimp and grits app we shared. I wasn’t much impressed with dessert, but I’m not a dessert guy, so don’t mind me if it’s your thing.

Fair warning, it’s a little pricey, so if you’re cheap, can’t read a menu, or do basic math like some here, stay away.

Otherwise, the bar has some decently priced small bites I’m curious to try, along with a nice craft cocktail list.

How much was it with tip? Asking for a friend.
