Knoxville Restaurants

We went to Kitchen 919 with a large group of friends last night. First off, for those familiar with the old Orangery building, the transformation inside is astounding. Nice (but crowded) bar area, a little slow on service. The dining room is comfortable but very loud, with tables relatively close together. Everyone enjoyed the food -- good variety, lots of flavor. Highlights seemed to be the shrimp & grits, Brussels, Sea bass, filet, and lamb. My only complaint would be that most beef/lamb entrees were cooked beyond requested doneness, but that may have resulted from resting too long under heat while preparing meals for the rest of our party.

I think they will do well, but they really do need to work on the noise level. Prices and portions are very fair. Service was good, not great, but that's what I would expect with a recent opening.

Crusse, you all have a partially filled sink hole in the parking lot at K Town Tavern?

Yeah, it's been somewhat "filled in" a couple times, I believe. They are fighting with the city to try to get them to fill it in. I don't know the details. It affects like...2 spots in the far corner of the lot and has tape around it.

I wish that the Turkey Creek Stefano's would open up. A couple of weeks ago I asked somebody at the UT store when it would open and he said they weren't telling them anything. The sign is up at TC.

Tell me about it.

There’s also one going on Hardin Valley. That one is being built from the ground up, so at least you can see the progress.
