Knoxville Restaurants

I’ve seen it suggested before that they don’t because it’s easier to fudge the numbers on reported income. It really doesn’t make sense from a business standpoint.

That's the ONLY reason for a restaurant to not accept cards.

My guess is that they just don't like the idea that some of the money they bring in their doors goes to paying a company just to make payments work. I could see them saying screw that, you come in here with cash. Then there's no wasted funds.

Yeah, well, credit/debit cards are here to stay. It's pretty short-sided to think this way.

Get with modern times or lose business plain and simple. Like I said even Sam and Andy's was smart enough to put an atm by their front door. The Pizza Palace ought to do the same thing if they want to continue to take cash only. For a place that's in the ghetto I'm surprised they haven't been robbed because since they take cash only.

They don’t have to pay credit card fees. I’m all for it, same thing with Lunch house. There are about 5 atms within less then a mile of both places. So it’s not that hard. Besides, you can’t have your identity stolen with cash like you can a CC

Quite simply don’t go. But blaming the place for not taking cash and knowing that in advance is stupid and not taking responsibility for your own stupid actions by going and not taking cash

It's such a cashless society I've watched people put a 89 cent coffee at a c store on a card. Now that's stupid

What difference does it make if it’s .89 or $890? Hell, I don’t want to watch some guy count out change for a coffee..

Stupid was getting tossed around freely in here. Put that type of charge on a card is , well stupid. Every man should have a little cash on him, throw down a dollar and walk.

Amen.

How much trouble is it to keep 15-20 bucks on you?

So let me see if I understand what you guys are saying...

You’d rather someone buy an .89 cup of coffee with a $20 bill and wait on the cashier to count change, versus someone swiping and out?

🧐

Yes, feel better

Oh I have cash. But it's at home in a safe. To be used in apocalyptic setting lol.

Swipe and go. Easier to keep up with tax write-offs that way.

Why would YOU ever need to hold cash? You're counting those .89 cent coffees on your 1040 EZ. Good night ole boy, I'm out

Just for you, Zeus....I’d say I know a thing or two about cash. 🤑

As it's already been mentioned they're probably doing it to avoid paying more taxes. The cost of the credit card fees would pay themselves off. Throwing up identity theft because of credit cards is just weak canon fodder. Besides my identity has already been made available by the credit reporting agencies who can't safeguard my information on their computers.

Hah! I've had to do this before BECAUSE I ran out of the cash that I was paying with. I had a $20 and the total was $20.93. Of course I'm using the cash before I dip into the bank account! Pssshhh!

I have a restaurant I frequent that only takes cash. It doesn't register always before I go that I can't use a credit card. My thinking is: I want to eat there, not what type of payment should I bring. It's aggravating in this age.

Even if I do remember, it's a pain in the ass to have to stop and get cash just because said restaurant is too cheap to pay credit card fees.

It's fine if you choose to use cash, but it's a major inconvenience for a lot of people who don't choose to carry cash.
