Knoxville Restaurants

Went to the Original Louis in Fountain City.

Disappointing. Terribly unauthentic italian food. I had veal parmigiana, which appeared to be dunked in batter and deep fried.

They're known for the spaghetti honestly. You got the wrong dish.

Don't you be dissing on my Louis'. I wouldn't know authentic Italian if it ran over me but I love the spaghetti and the lasagna,

Yes they had unique business model but were very successful....after they won the award they set up seminars to share information, not sure if they charged for this or not....this included people in the class working in a store...did you wife get to do that...I heard lots of great reviews from it....again they were very unique...IE a single store manager was given lots of autonomy but had to adhere to a small set of metrics that were set in stone...but it was up him or her as to how to achieve them...

After they won the award I expected the small chain to go big time, including franchisees but to my knowledge not much changed...very slow expansion...

My wife got in on a new hospice company early. She is among the senior leadership of that company. They started out with 4 offices in TN, now they have 15 offices covering every county in the state. They bought a hospice company in SC with 8 offices. They opened an office in Va, tri cities area, and looking to expand into Mo.

Everyone of them made the trip, all the way up to the CEO. They learned a lot and are in the running for the award this year. We went to the Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Awards this year where they won this years Large Business Excellence Award.

Oh and we ate at Cancun off Cedar Bluff last week. Great service and great Mexican food on the cheap. Two huge portions two drinks for less than 30 bucks. We had enough that we had leftovers for lunch.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be mean. The spaghetti was nice, and I am sure the Lasagna is good too. I was just hoping for a more authentic Italian dining experience.

I like that place. You get any of them margaritas?

Magic8vol gonna be pissed.

I am prepared.

Also their lack of wine didn't help matters, red wine and italian food are meant for each other.

Is there really a good independant authentic italian restaurant in Knoxville? Oodles is decent.

Altrudas sucks. Don't bother. They drench everything in a pile of garlic.

Thanks. So it's settled the best place to get Italian and wine in Knoxville is likely a chain. Sorta stinks about Knoxville, outside of namas we don't do ethnic food very well.

There is a decent Ethiopian place and an Indian place though.

You are crazy. Not everything there is drenched in garlic. You must have your mind stuck on the garlic bread which is spectacularly fabulous. Who the hell doesn't like garlic anyway? Their house salad is awesome as well.

Savelli's for Italian.

It's all good. I've been going to Louis since I was just a little runt (many moons ago). My parents used to take us and we would have curb service. Neat way to enjoy Italian.

Being owed and managed by Greeks that would make sense...

BTW, I've enjoyed Louis's food since I was a kid (I'm 61)...its not authentic Italian as I've come to know it but its tasty, lots of it and inexpensive....

One serving of spaghetti, bread and salad will last me 2, maybe 3 meals and I'm a big boy...

Every day your idiocy seems to top itself.

Altruda's is pretty much my favorite restaurant in Knoxville where you can get entrees for less than $20.

You should try Altruda's nerd. I went there last Saturday. Be prepared to spend about $75 for two entrees and a bottle of wine, though. And don't go if you're just looking for spaghetti or lasagna. Just ignore the left side of the menu. No point in paying $12 for spaghetti.

So you're dropping $35+ for a bottle of wine but are concerned about entrees under $20?

Which of you guys have actually been to Italy and actually eaten "authentic" Italian food. It's not what they're serving in the States.

I have. I spent a fortnight over there, and I agree the food is much different than the cheese covered stuff we get here.
