Knoxville Restaurants

So I had an hour to kill today in turkey creek and decided to try La Parrilla. It is very good and above most Mexican food here. If you are in the area I say try it. Miles better than soccer taco, Cancun, and senior taco.

Yeah it's great. My favorite Mexican in Knoxville.

The We're Cooking on North Peters (next to Penn Station) is pretty good. Owner is a Polish immigrant who came here as a child seeking asylum. Great guy.

There's a location on N. Broadway as well, but I haven't eaten there.

And one in West Town Mall if it hasn't closed yet.

Ate there about a month ago. The burgers are pretty good. I had a hot dog, too, but wasn't as crazy about it. They have this Boom Boom hot sauce that I thought was good for dipping fries.

So you got your boom boom on eh? :)

Yep. Wasn't bad. There's a small group of us that eat out once a month since I moved back here and we'll pick a place at random. There have been some hits and misses. We're eating at some Mexican place in Lenoir City tomorrow. I don't even remember the name of it. I just hope it's more authentic than Americanized like many place have come to be. If I pull up and it's a hole in the wall type place, I'm probably in for some good food.

Conspiracy! You two work for La Parilla. :)

I second La Parrilla. It has become by go to Mexican restaurant.

I can vouch for two things:

1. La Parilla is very good
2. BigDaddy is in no way qualified to work there

:)

Where was your previous favorite mexican spot?
What dish do you usually get at La Parrilla?

Slydell no!!!

And to anyone who can answer, do they sell Empanadas at La Parrilla?

I believe it is called Ken's Boom Boom Sauce. Copper Cellar uses it on their jalapeno burger. I know because I love it so much I asked a server one day what it was. Haven't had any luck buying it myself though.

Not in Knoxville, but Alley Cat and Hokie Smokey in Johnson City are pretty good.

Not sure about the empanadas, but my favorite actually used to be Amigo's in Chatt. After I moved to knoxville and tried several Mexican places here my wife and I went way out to a Mexican place on Chapman Highway (wayyyy down Chapman) called Pancho's. I loved it. It was my new favorite Mexican...... then La Parilla opened...... then my life was changed.

Favorite dish there is just the good ole chicken chimichanga. They make it just crispy enough there and completely smother it in queso. I get no beans, extra rice and mix the excess cheese with the rice.

Anyone who tries everything I just said will thank me later.

I tried Stock and Barrel the other day. It was the best black and blue burger I've ever had. Favorite place I've been in Knoxville in my extensive 2 weeks of living here. Much better than the Taco Bell and Barbaritos lol
