Knoxville Restaurants

We just got back from Linderhof! It was an interesting experience. Lovely decor and the staff were all nice that we encountered. The menu just had the names of the dishes on them and no explanation to them at all so for diners who haven't been there before you're kind of at a loss from the get go. I forget his name but our server is apparently one of the brothers that runs the place. Younger guy, curly hair, and glasses. We inquired about the menu not having descriptions and he said he removed them because they(chefs or staff maybe?) were never getting the descriptions right on the printed menus and that change happened recently apparently. He was happy to describe all the dishes to us though. The service at first was slow, it took him a while to bring out the beverages. A couple of the glasses of wine actually came out before the sodas did. Their liquor menu was very limited, and they were out of several of the items not only on the food menu but the liquor bar as well. Surprisingly they were even out of Jagermeister but had Zwack which is a Hungarian equivalent. That one they actually ran out of after I ordered the first round, lol. We ordered the "Best of the Wurst" app and another one which was Bratwurst and a ratatouille, both of which we all enjoyed. The beer cheese soup was good but we all ultimately ended up using it as a cheese dip for the rye bread.
Four of us got schnitzel(chicken, veal, or pork) with either spatzle or the german pan fried potatoes. The potatoes were really good with that thin, crisp, fried outside. Someone else got the bratwurt dish with ratatouille and rotkraut(slightly sweeter red cabbage kraut). Three of the schnitzel dishes were treated with the Jaeger sauce which was very delicious the other had the ratatouille! We all tried a bite of each dish and we all enjoyed every one. I think out of all the schnitzels I personally preferred the chicken schnitzel because it was very tender and juicy but regardless all were good. We were the last table in the main dining area.
We asked our server why their selection on liquor was so limited and why they had run out of certain items on their menu. He basically said that since the move from the Ingles shopping center to their new location(which has a bigger kitchen and bigger dining area) they've been working hard at catching up financially, at least that's how I interpreted what he was telling me.

With really just a tweak or two here and there it'd be an excellent place. Regardless of the set backs the food was very good and we'd definitely go back again.

They didn't have their liquor license yet when we last ate there, so they may be still adjusting to wine and liquor sales.

While far from a quick meal, I really enjoy eating there. A unique dining experience for Knoxville.

I thought Dead End's brisket was meh. What did you get?

Mac attack. I liked it. Good flavor, nice menu, fair beer prices, snappy service, terrible parking. A winning combo IMO.

I also found out that the Ethiopian resturant is still around. I reccomend that place.

Cheddar's is still craziness. Over an hour wait at 5pm on Saturday. Decided to go to Copper Cellar instead. Walked in and we were immediately seated. We were surprised since there were several HS graduations Saturday. There were a couple of reserved tables.

The prices is the answer. Which also tells you that 100% of what they serve comes in frozen and pre made. At a chilis or similar it's probably like 70 percent.

It is sometimes very good, and others meh. I agree.

I keep seeing all these great reviews for Archers BBQ. I think it is so so and very inconsistent. Sometimes the meat is cold and dry and sometimes it is fine.

How many were in your party?

Isn't CC on a different level than Cheddars from the get go?

I like Cheddars. They have a good Philly Cheese steak. My wife likes their Bacon Cheeseburger. For the chain joints, it is my favorite.

I'll have to try the cheese steak. My favorite go to item is the fried Tilapia taco(fish tacos), so good and I love the sauce that comes with it. I haven't tried everything they have but I have sampled a few dishes that weren't that great from there.

How long ago was that when you last visited?

Laws in Farragut I think are hurting their business as they are unable to put up any signage. We actually drove by it for a brief moment before we U-turned and found it. We were looking for it though, so if anyone was just driving around casually they'd literally never know it was there to give it a chance.

It actually wasn't an excessively long dinner either and we also got apps. We arrived roughly 7:15pm and finished eating our main dishes at 8:35pm. So for the slow start in addition to the apps it was just an 1h20m. This was for a table of 5 as well.

Maybe 2 months ago?

They had a steady crowd at the old location by Ingles, but they will need more patrons to pay for that building. Seasons used to be there, so people out West are familiar with the complex. That Renaissance Center certainly doesn't seem business friendly...lots of turnover. I don't think it is positioned well, being so far back off of Kingston Pike.

We tried Seasons for the first time this evening.

They serve flatbread strips instead of bread along with a tomato based butter/spread. The strips were good just by themselves but neither I nor one of my sisters was a fan of the tomato spread, the flavor was just not pleasant.

We got the Ahi tuna and fried artichoke hearts apps.

2 of us both ordered the rack of lamb dish, the other two both ordered the garlic infused medallions, and I'm the only one that got the filet dish.

The Ahi tuna app was good, pretty much just like Ahi tuna apps at every other restaurant. I preferred the fried artichok hearts app. All the dishes were really good although I can say that I'm not a fan at all of the horseradish mashed potatoes that accompanied my steak, yuck. Should we go back another time I'll definitely substitute that for something else. The filet was cooked perfectly though and was very tender.

Overall some pretty good quality food, everything was cooked properly to order. I'd go back again and try some of the other dishes.

Going to be working for a week in Oak Ridge and staying in west Knoxville at Embassy. Been a while since I've been in that area. Any recommendations for west Knoxville?
