Knoxville Restaurants

Echo, Bistro by the Tracks, Knox Mason, Nama, Conners', Seasons.

A couple of those I'm not sure about the $200 for 4 people including drinks though.

Knox Mason? I haven't seen you mention that one before, did I miss it?

Where are the tracks for Bistro By The Tracks? :)

Depends on how many drinks...

Knox Mason is on Gay, north around where the original Nama was located (may be the exact spot).

The original Bistro by the Tracks was in the small building occupied by Rouxbarb until a year or so ago, on Northshore right next to the train track.

I'm not a fan of Knox Mason but I have friends that love it. I even know the guy who opened it and still don't frequent it. I'm at Sweet Ps downtown right now. Got to say it's pretty solid everytimw I come here.

I don't know if it's really related but does anyone recommend going to the International Biscuit Festival this weekend?

Hah, Interesting! I did not know that Bistro was at the now former Rouxbarb location.

My sisters have gone the last couple years and they seemed to really enjoy it. They rave about the biscuits and some of them are apparently very creative.

do they serve gravy with the biscuits

From what I've heard some do, and some come up with their own accompaniments like jams, sauces, etc. I believe one even had a shrimp and andouille sausage gravy they served with their biscuits.

Are you stalking my mother, arky?

I also have no idea if this is a thing that happened.

lulz,no

just heard something about a Mercedes getting dinged up, in the parking lot, and that it belonged to a lady, that came in with a group about once a week

Yup, just the same to me except closer

That's pretty awesome! I've always wanted to try them, but didn't want to make the drive. May have to pay them a visit.

That being said, we are making our second trip to Cancun off Cedar Bluff tonight. Hope this time is as great as our first trip.

Give me a heads up and I'll meet you at sweet Ps

Well we finally made a trip to Blackhorse Pub yesterday. "Vol in ar" don't take this review personally. A few of us, including myself, started out with the beer sampler. I came to the conclusion that the beers I preferred were the Blakchorse Ale, Vanilla Cream Ale, and the Hefeweizen. The McGee's Pale Ale is absolutely awful but only because my taste buds really find the bitterness of the hops so I've never had luck with pale ales. One of my sisters got some sort of bourbon cider drink that was really good and apparently pretty decent on the ABV scale at 12%. We got the chips and the pretzel apps, both with beer cheese. Unfortunately the entire table was in agreement that the beer cheese is too spicy. We would have preferred the beer cheese without the heat. The chips and pretzels were really good though. They were serving some sort of "southern stew" that day that was more of a soup than a stew given it's soupy consistency. One of us got the Reuben which they said was really good, and I got the classic burger with onion rings. It was a pretty decent burger and I really liked the bun they use, the onion rings were also very good. Service was good for a table of 8. Ambiance and decor wise I'd say it's a little dark and lacking character but for a pub/brewery near campus it probably works.

glad you all made it, and found something you liked....
did anyone try a pizza?

Technically no. One ordered a flat bread which apparently turned out great since they ate the majority of it. Another ordered a flat bread but asked for it to be on a pizza crust rather than the flat bread(don't ask me why, I had no part in that craziness). It turns out that wasn't a good decision on her part since she only ate one piece of it. I asked her several times what exactly she didn't like about it and each time I never got a clear explanation. She's one of those super picky eaters so I take her reviews with a grain of salt. "Ain't nobody got time for that"!

Finally made it to Flemings for a Birthday dinner.

All of the drinks we ordered were excellent. Several of the drinks had unique flavors and were delicious. We got a few apps but the best were the pan-seared pork belly, and the lobster tempura app. Those two were fantastic.

My niece(2.4 years old) got the mac and cheese and the Thai green beans without the light spice that normally comes with it. I tried a bite of the mac and cheese and it was great. They use cavatappi noodles and add bacon to it.

The table got the same dish of prime filet(12oz) and a truffle-poached lobster tail with bearnaise sauce and caviar. Several of us split the dish at the table simply because it was a lot of food and it was easily pulled off. The lobster tail was fantastic and the steak was melt in your mouth delicious!

They have a wonderful lava cake which only one was ordered and shared across the table. It was great and the chocolate inside was not too rich and overbearing like a lot of lava cakes. They serve it accompanied by a couple scoops of icecream, a wafer thin cookie crisp and homemade whip cream.

The service was great, and the several other staff members we spoke to including the manager were also very nice.

Awesome dinner, not cheap but still awesome.

I'll have to go back and try the allegedly cheap, but great bar burger next time that several people have mentioned in this thread previously.
