Knoxville Restaurants

Well we finally made a trip to Blackhorse Pub yesterday. "Vol in ar" don't take this review personally. A few of us, including myself, started out with the beer sampler. I came to the conclusion that the beers I preferred were the Blakchorse Ale, Vanilla Cream Ale, and the Hefeweizen. The McGee's Pale Ale is absolutely awful but only because my taste buds really find the bitterness of the hops so I've never had luck with pale ales. One of my sisters got some sort of bourbon cider drink that was really good and apparently pretty decent on the ABV scale at 12%. We got the chips and the pretzel apps, both with beer cheese. Unfortunately the entire table was in agreement that the beer cheese is too spicy. We would have preferred the beer cheese without the heat. The chips and pretzels were really good though. They were serving some sort of "southern stew" that day that was more of a soup than a stew given it's soupy consistency. One of us got the Reuben which they said was really good, and I got the classic burger with onion rings. It was a pretty decent burger and I really liked the bun they use, the onion rings were also very good. Service was good for a table of 8. Ambiance and decor wise I'd say it's a little dark and lacking character but for a pub/brewery near campus it probably works.

What did you think about the Red? Its available in six pack cans in food city, kroger and weigles. Vanilla will be available in about 4-6 weeks in cans.

Lol, you made me wait 3 weeks to answer that...
If I remember correctly the B. Red was way less hoppy than the pale ale, it seemed like a fair balance between a light and a dark beer. I'd honestly have to try it again to give it more accurate description.

Where will Gus's be located?

It doesn't appear as though the location has been disclosed yet.

In Knoxville the you can't go wrong with these
Barley's Taproom & Pizzeria, Brixx, Hard Knox Pizza, Tomato Head

Regardless, I can't believe someone is knocking Mellow Mushroom. Love their pizza even if it is a chain. I wouldn't call it the best but it's definitely above average.

last night I went to a place I <3 NY Pizza. It was amazing. It really was NY style. Huge and you gotta fold it. The crust was incredible. A large pizza is 18"

Somebody dogged Mellow Mushroom?! I must have missed that. Mellow Mushroom while a chain has some great food! The salads they sell are delicious as well. My go to is a Greek salad and a Might Meaty Pizza.

I just loathe waiting the 15 minutes it takes to bake the pizza plus the 40 minutes it takes the staff to get baked after making the pizza but before delivering it to the table

Hahaha! We more often than not do take-out so the only thing lengthy in that is the drive.

Ate at Dickey's last night.

I thought it was pretty good. Probably wouldn't go out of my way, but I'd stop if I was in the area.

Brisket and ribs were good.

Dickey's is solid for Lunch, they have a special each day of the week, and a soft serve, afterwards is always good

drive by there every day, but not yet

Let me know if you end up visiting.

been avoiding it mostly because it occupies the space formerly known as Wok Hay, which was my family's favorite fusion joint

I'm sure it's coincidental that the location was occupied by another Asian place but Fulins claims to be one of Nashville's best Asian spots.

Fulin's had decent wings at Wing Fest this past weekend if that matters. They were also nice people.

I had Bad Daddies's Burger Bar tonight. Gotta say, we all enjoyed it. Server was good, restaurant looks nice, and food was good. If you go, treat yourself to some buttermilk fried bacon on your burger. Mmmmmm.

Did they take over the spot where Gatti's used to be in Turkey Creek?

We're Cooking has good burgers and fish and chips. Everything is cooked to order so it's all fresh and hot and tasty. They're on Peters Rd near where Circuit City used to be.
