Knoxville Restaurants

Curious as to what you had at sweet Ps that was average. I've had BBQ all over the place and it stands out as some of the best.

I'm a brisket guy. I've been told the sauce makes Sweet P's. I'm not a sauce guy. That may be why I feel this way.

It had been a few years since I have been there, it is a chain buy I have had some good BBQ at Jim'n Nick's on west side of Nashville off Charlotte Pike.

We go there for lunch on occasion. It's not bad.

There was one on Lovell Road for a short time.

I haven't ever had BBQ that I thought was amazing. Sweet P's is pretty good. Same with Dead End...but I wouldn't ever really crave that food like I do a good burger or pizza.

I swear the brisket at Dead End is as good as it gets. Sweet P's does have excellent sauces.

Side note: I noticed a poster there that Gran Torino is reuniting for a football kickoff show in a couple of weeks.

Snows BBQ in Lexington TX. The BEST smoked sausage I've ever had in my life. Talk about craving BBQ. Happened to be passing through Lexington on a Saturday. Turns out the place is only open on Saturdays. They sell what they've got until it's gone. Hell this was 5 years ago and I still crave it. If im not mistaken Lexington is somewhere between San Antonio and Austin.

Yup right next door at The Standard. I'm going

Anyone been to the Pizza Palace recently? We usually go there when we come to K-Town. I think pizza is pretty good. I really just like going there, I have lots of memories from going to the Fair then going to the Pizza Palace or the Tic Toc Drive In as a kid.

One of the best burgers you'll ever eat. Try the pimento cheese and fried green tomato or the bison burger. The duck confit fries are ridiculous. Anticipate a long wait. Amazing bourbon selection.

Kiddiedoc, I felt good this Labor Day Weekend. Granny and I made our way to marketsquare and ate at the Stock and Barrel. I had the bison burger with the duck confit fries. Both were great. We have been there a couple of times. They do make one of the best burgers one can buy, imo.

Sadly it was a mistake. One or both, I think the fries, did a number on me. I have been taking Phenergan since our visit. I ate a rueben a couple of weeks ago that did not bother me, so I thought a trip to the S&B was in order. Boy was I wrong. I love good food but I am going to have to accept the fact it does not love me.

Thanks.

I feel okay. I get tired very easily.

I am scheduled for another MRI in October and have an appointment with my oncologist in November. I have my fingers crossed it has not gone metastatic.

Ack, hate to hear that. Burgers and fries certainly aren't the easiest on the GI tract (but oh, so tasty). Glad to hear that you have been feeling better, but maybe you should be careful with your diet. I'm becoming a big believer in healthy eating, and I think there is considerable evidence that diet plays an important role in the management of even the most complex medical conditions.

Also, praying for you tonight. Please keep us updated.

Next time you go Gramps I'll eat the burger and fries for you and you can get a salad. :)

Got a Steak in a Sack and some onion rings again from Sam and Andy's the other day. Good stuff as always!

What's up with the Peerless renovations Crusse, how are they coming along?

They've started doing exterior work with clearing out some of the sidewalk and landscaping right next to the building to start the real work. What sucks is that people just think we're closed for renovations. Last night we had 4 tables, one of which was an employee and her boyfriend. Saturday the restaurant closed early after serving 1 person (a different employee who came in). The good news, though, is that this clearly means all permits have been granted and all work has been approved. I'd guess it could be operational in about a month/month and a half, but that's definitely not set in stone.

To update the bourbon/rye list, we now have a solid selection.
Rye: Whistle Pig Old World, Whistle Pig, Knob Creek
Bourbon: Bookers, Bakers, Basil Hayden, Knob Creek, Woodford, Jeffersons Reserve, Jeffersons Ocean Aged, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Angels Envy, Bulleit, Jim Black, Jim Devil's Cut

my favorite part of bringing in all the whiskeys is that I need to taste them to be able to give information when asked

edit: 5 days ago, on the facebook page, they said that they're 5 weeks away. I call BS, but we'll see

Lol!
I actually just assumed you all were closed during the renovations as well.

Devil's Cut is nasty btw but you'll find that out soon enough.

Them and Pizza Palace are ridiculous.

I asked this question when I paid for my food. The older guy that works the register in the evening said his father(who still works there apparently and is in his late 70's) doesn't believe in credit cards so he refuses to get a machine. He proceeded to tell me they'd get one when his father dies.
