Knoxville Restaurants

What is considered a great restaurant in Knoxville?

Outstanding: Citico's at Wind River, Foothills Milling Company (Maryville)

Great: Connors, Nama, Cru, Cafe 4, Echo, Seasons, Stock and Barrel, Grill at Highlands Row, Bistro by the Tracks, Flemming's, Ruth's Chris (no particular order)

As of our current schedule, Peerless will remain open through Friday, but it's probably actually going to only go through Thursday. The banquet facility will continue to operate unimpeded. They're putting up structural pieces on the outside and have removed a row of booths inside. I'm quite excited as it's starting to feel very real. In a short matter of weeks, K-Town Tavern will be open and hopefully we'll be swamped with business

Banquet facility?

We have a banquet area with retractable walls that can handle 20-160. Then also have smaller rooms that seat 10-12 and one that seats up to 22

Ok, just making sure. I had seen you mention that before. I'm guessing there isn't much traffic in those either right now?

Nah they're going fine. Mainly things like financial planning seminars and pharmaceutical events. Sometimes you get surprise birthday events for like 50th, etc. Then on Fridays every once in a while there's still a rehearsal dinner. Monday night there was a 60-person pharmacy event and a 12-person financial exec event.

We tried something different this year for Thanksgiving and made reservations at Copper Cellar West. It's been a very long time since I've eaten at Copper Cellar and it was always the Cumberland location so visiting the West location was a treat. Also, to my surprise this restaurant is actually sharing the same space as Cappuccino's(another Copper Cellar family restaurant) and the atmosphere for both sides was excellent. This was a special buffet style Thanksgiving dinner and not their typical fair and the selection was pretty good. The entire restaurant was packed and we had no idea how many people actually went out for Thanksgiving. Dinner for 5 adults was like $140 with non-alcoholic beverages.

We do an extended family style turkey dinner but it typically doesn't fall right on Thanksgiving day so we tried this for official turkey day.

It's All So Yummy/Hilton Head Ice Cream

They offer mostly sandwiches and soup. 15 different varieties of grilled cheese. Great ice cream. Pleasant atmosphere with nice scenery behind the counter.

Did the 50 year old sign out front not tip you off at some point in time? :)

Actually, it was dark and when I glanced at the sign all I saw was "Copper Cellar". I was in a rush though. :)Cappuccino's didn't open up there until August of last year I think, maybe even later.

That building has had a Cappuccino's sign on it as long as I can remember.

Took my parents to Savelli's tonight on Sutherland. Really, really good! Dad had the blackened tuna steak over pesto pasta. On. Point.

Coug, I know Capp has been there a while. I went there for thanksgiving about 5 years ago. We go every year during December for Sunday brunch. Doesn't matter though, point is it's good eating

Have you guys tried the Holy Land Market/Deli on Sutherland? My sister told me about it. She said since Ali Babas is gone this is the next best deli. Is she right?

I've never been but have known about it a while. May check it out

My wife and I returned to Citico's last night. There was hardly anybody there and the service can be a little awkward, but I swear that was one of the best meals I've ever had in the Knoxville area. Delicious oysters Rockefeller with a fried oyster twist, their signature fried Brussels sprouts, and a perfectly cooked bison strip (which I had paired with the Tenderloin sides and demi glace). My wife's Scallops were also outstanding.

Prices are actually quite reasonable, and I highly recommend this restaurant. It's a bit out of the way, but it's worth the drive and you can soak in some nice lake views for dessert.

I'm not arguing I was asking. It's why my last post regarding Cappuccino's was posed as a question.

The lack of diners is probably mostly because of it being a holiday weekend. I do know someone that complained because Citico won't allow you to bring your own wine that they don't stock.
