Don't want to get in the middle of a p****** match. Since it is a message board I have this message. Anybody that believes Cheek and Hart are not egomaniacs bent on doing what they and the BOT want to do relating to chasing the dollar - those folks need to rethink their blind loyalty positions. This whole thing with the LV logo has been totally bungled from the start, just as have numerous other critical decisions involving those two. Getting lucky on a couple of hires and signing a contract with Nike are not major achievements. Any major college AD/Chancellor in America could do that. FWIW, I really like those hires, but, they have not proven they can win at a high level at UT yet. Hope they do.
Whether it is the right or wrong thing to eliminate the LV marketing effort is not for me or any of us to decide since we do not have all of the information or authority to do so. However, some on here would have us trust the previously mentioned individuals and what they decide. That's where the line gets crossed and precisely why there should have been more public input into the decision making process. They just did it, didn't discuss all the ramifications with the fan base and financial contributors as well as explain why they would abandon a decades long marketing program that had made the LV's name recognizable world wide in sports circles. Maybe it was time to move on. We will never know because they chose to keep it quiet because of what they are now experiencing. That is totally disrespectful toward a significant portion of the UT fan base IMO. That's one of those 'do want you want and ask forgiveness later' type deals.
When Cheek and Hart are gone and David Blackburn is hired as the new AD - that's when I will trust UT again on major decisions. I know the later's character as well as dedication to UT and its supporters. I have no use for the other two.
