Told ya! DiPietro and the BOT are behind this:

Rep. Roger Kane sent a letter signed by 45 legislators asking trustees to discuss the matter. James Murphy, the board’s vice chairman, and University of Tennessee president Joe DiPietro replied Tuesday in an email that “we understand and respect your opinion and that of your colleagues, but we continue to hold that the decision in this matter rests with the Knoxville campus administration.”

The Governor needs to get involved:

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of The University of Tennessee. The Board is comprised of five ex officio members (the Governor, Commissioner of Agriculture, Commissioner of Education, Executive Director of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, and President of the University) and 21 members appointed by the Governor.

While I agree with the premise that the governor has more important things to do, though I would like for him to take an interest in the matters instead of just getting his family name on everything, could you be any more of an ass with that response?

Personally, I've never owned a piece of Nike anything and never will. I'll just continue to rock all the Adidas gear I have.

Did anyone get to hear Debbie Jennings call in and talk about the BOT meeting today? Brent Hubbs politely shut her down when talking about how she was using pats likeness on stickers without her consent. She mentioned how great the turnout for the protest was (around 40). 😂😂

I have certainly stocked up on Adidas gear for a while now. I really don't like the idea of Nike having so much influence...kind of like large retail stores moving into the neighborhood driving competitors out of business then upping the prices.

Will never buy Nike anything. Lady vols blue looks better than the butt ugly grey the men wore. All Lady teams are just as important as Lady Vols basketball, and should keep their name. They do not deserve to be kicked to the curb, by Hart, n his minions.

I sent emails to my Senator and Representative to implore them to try to speak with the Governor about this on our behalf. The Governor appoints the BOT. He can also dismiss.
