I'm going to get blasted for this and I dont really care so I'm just going to say it. It seems the majority of the people (NOT ALL) raising a stink over this whole thing are in the Gay and Lesbian community. So tell me does the "Lady Vols" logo really represent anything other than your sexual preference? The women wanted title 9 so I would say this should indeed be part of that to create equality on all levels. And honestly I'm for the womens basketball team keeping their label because they are the only self funding womens program. So tell me does the name really mean that much to you personally? Or is it just another Gay/ Lesbian pride thing?
Aw man I'm sorry did I hurt your feelings with my opinion? All I hear about is you dont get it, you dont understand what it stands for? Sounds like to me they want their cake and want to eat it too. So tell me what does "Lady Vols" stand for because I'm a little confused other than it make them different from the mens programs.I think this whole debacle is dumb, but you take the effing cake.

I didnt bash the LGBT, you need thicker skin. It was a question that obviously struck a nerve with you so its pretty obvious you were out looking for a fight on the subject anyhow. So I ask again what does the symbol stand for because all I ever get is you dont understand, so I start throwing darts at a board to figure it out. Its funny your defense to the question is to label me a bigot for simply trying to present a topic for objective conversation.Better question, what reason other than just wanting another reason to bash the LGBT community did you deduct that this was an LGBT rights thing? It's all backwards traditionalists that fear progression. Has nothing to do with the LGBT community. I hope you don't procreate for the sake of humanity.
Alright, even the most established of these campaigns have, at most, 15,000 followers. Just for fun lets use Neyland Stadium as a reference. There are 102,455 people in the stadium. If 20,000 total backed this campaign (have to account for people who are following mulitple campaigns so let's say that more than half of them are on the STLV on fb) then that means that "Save the Lady Vols" supporters would account for about 20% of the population.
Nike wins. Go Vols mens and womens teams.
Huh??? I missed where other women in the NCAA were allowed to name their team name.
Please explain to me what the name means? Someone anyone? I want to support the Lady Vols keeping their name but right now its no more than a logo to me. And in sports logos, uniforms etc are forever changing.
So the Lady Vols have to justify it to you before it is OK to keep it? So you can't figure out what Lady Vols means? Is it the "Lady" or "Smokey" or the light blue that is confusing you? Just so I can help clear it up.
Wasn't trying to offend you, I'm just trying to see your point of view. What does the Lady Vol name mean to you? Thats all I'm not trying to put you down or anything just asking what it means to you?
Huh???? Have you even been paying attention to this thread. We have debated this point ad nauseam. Do you really want to debate this point? Go back and think about it for awhile before you start just flying off at the mouth.
It's like the Lady Vols are a separate team separate university and should be able to call their own shots. With a justification of tradition and pride in a program. This one brand one logo was a conception from the most successful brand in sports...they did their research and they know their business. Bottom line? When Lady Vols is no longer a logo (including basketball) there will still be Lady Vols...they just can't call the shots in a separate AD anymore...Nike will sell a bigger portion of Tennessee gear...ergo more money for women's programs...just not the impression that they're their own separate program...they never were, but got to pretend. Welcome to reality...Ladies. :hi:
Be given that right? Yes.Slow down there sally, what point are you wanting to debate? Your post said "I want our women to be given the same rights as everyone else-the right to choose.".....am I missing what you are saying here or are you suggesting that our Lady players should be given "the right" to choose to have the Lady Vols logo and name or not? If thats not what you are saying, then I completely misunderstood you and apologize.
Be given that right? Yes.

Why should it be left up to them? They can call themselves whatever they please, but reaching to it being a "right" is ridiculous, even for you. Its a decision by the BOT and they are completely within their bounds of execution to make that decision. Student Athletes dont have a "right" to determine what the team should be named nor do they have that "right" to decide what logo the team should carry.
