Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Partisanship is strangling our country, and actual decent, qualified people do not want to get caught up in the game of tit for tat. Both parties would rather tear each other apart than work together for the benefit of all.
I kinda feel like when the parties work together, things get worse. It scares me when there is panic (like post 911) and they two parties find unity. We got ridiculous wars and "security theater" called the TSA in addition to other liberty trampled.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. Even though it is often carried to an extreme.
I said it is not sufficient to build an acceptable societal economy.

Ok gotcha but would you care to provide your opinion on which country’s economy we should mimic? What would be acceptable?

That is my one major complaint with trump...... of course I don’t see any candidate wanting to address it.
I guess it's time to once again point out that...............
The rate of increase in deficit spending is ALWAYS less under Democratic administrations.
Trump not only continues that trend but solidifies it. That was true even before Covid-19.

Michigan Unemployment Claims top 1 million, 3 times more than during the recession

Nearly 22 million workers nationwide, including more than a million in Michigan, have sought unemployment benefits since the pandemic began shutting down the global economy a month ago.

So far, the state has paid out $745 million in unemployment payments to more than 725,000 claimants, a number that is expected to go up with additional claims and with each week the stay-at-home order is in place.

Jeff Donofrio, the director of the state Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, reiterated comments earlier this week that a quarter of our workforce has filed for unemployment, adding "we know there is more work to do to improve our systems."

Earlier this week, Donofrio said if the pandemic restrictions continue through July, conservative models show that about half of the trust fund, which had $4.6 billion before the pandemic, would be depleted.

And many Michiganders, however, continue to struggle to file for benefits and are increasingly frustrated that the only ways to ask questions or get help are through the Internet and toll-free number, which are overwhelmed.

None of that matters...... how about someone who wants to balance the budget?

Such a ridiculous place to plant a flag of moral superiority. Deficits are bad.

My daughter's rate of sexual assault is Always less when she is attending GT instead of UGA. See??? Ridiculous.

That's dreamland anymore. Neither side is really worried about that.
The last time someone seriously proposed balanced budgets, they were derided for hating poor people and wanting to kill old folks. Hell, the last government shutdowns we've had...you would have thought 75% of the country starved to death.

Ours is pretty good. I just feel there are a couple of things that need to move a little more in the socialistic direction. Health care being the primary one. Also some further adjustments to the tax code are needed.
The biggest flaw in our economy is with wealth distribution. Just as with the debt, we are heading in the wrong direction and it is not sustainable.

I have many policy complaints against DJT that don't even touch his brash, abrasive demeanor. I don't care if he spits on the press corps, moons them, or flips them off. Don't care what juvenile names he calls others in DC.
The fiscal side of it is more frightening than any virus. We cannot continue to spend like money is infinite.

I don't disagree but that is hardly proprietary to the Trump WH.

Until this outbreak, there was nothing wrong with the economy; I think Trump did his part, insofar as a president can affect the economy. He has taken on issues presidents have kicked down the road for decades in bipartisan fashion; from trade with enemy and friend, calling and treating enemies as enemies, and bureaucratic corruption. While saddled with corrupt investigations by agency heads and impeachment designs before his election. While the bureaucrats squeal like pigs and traitorously leak like sieves. It's remarkable what he's accomplished.

The right is right on taxes, but wrong in that they're not willing to knife fight to cut spending. Dems are wrong on both.
I've thought for some time we won't self-correct fiscally and a total crash is inevitable. Every major economy suffers the same flaw and will share that fate. I think the wrong conclusions will be drawn from the devastation, a global quasi-Marxist system will rise from the ashes. A modern, technocrat version of the Dark Ages.

I'd revel in being wrong.

Key to my post was "benefit for all". In times of panic, they come together to seize more power for the government, then they start fighting over who should wield the power. No one is actually concerned on what is actually best for the country and its people.

They’re funded through tax revenue and are legitimate functions of government at any level. You can call that socialism if you wish but it makes you sound like a ****ing idiot.
What name do you give it?
Then name education, parks and rec., courts and prisons, and roads and bridges.
I'm always willing to learn some new vocabulary.

Your refusal to see it for what it is makes you look like an even bigger ****ing idiot.

agree with almost all.

The economy was fine but the lack of attention on our massive debt (which has been growing for decades and not the fault of any one president or party) was/is a problem.
