Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

This is from a CNN article.

The N95 masks are critical in preventing healthcare workers from acquiring the coronavirus because they block at least 95% of particulates in the air—like the novel coronavirus—according to the FDA. Many hospitals across the US are scrambling to get more masks for their workers during the global pandemic.

I thought that the mask wouldn't help you keep from getting the virus.

This is the kind of crap we’re dealing with. This is the quote in the article from the city manager...

He added: “Still, it's kind of sobering that 30 percent of a random group of 200 people that are showing no symptoms are, in fact, infected. It's all the more reason for everyone to be practicing physical distancing."

He’s an idiot. This is an antibody blood test. These people aren’t “infected.” They WERE infected already and in reality should be allowed to go about their normal lives.

Now which is it? You are correct, early on they were saying the mask is to protect others, not yourself. Now it can serve as a guard for the person wearing it and for others? LOL... imagine that.

What kind of stories? Its so much going on in this page its hard to keep everything straight.

Stanford study in Santa Clara estimating around 2-4% of the people they have tested already show antibodies meaning they've had this. They extrapolated that info into like a 0.1% to 0.2% mortality rate.

Colorado study showing similar info....already infected people in the single digit percentages.

Mass study showing 30% of a street or neighborhood already have had this.

My notes above are very loose, writing from memory. Dont want TennTradition bludgeoning me.

The general conclusion I and others are drawing, using these, is infected are magnitudes higher than what is currently stated.

Studies like this validate that the virus is not near as deadly as is reported and IMO more of a reason for us to open back up.

Now just because a higher percentage of the population has had this and experienced no symptoms doesn’t mean that we need to run hog wild either. Open back up the country for all of those who are under 60 and suggest to those who have pre-existing conditions to continue practicing social distancing wearing masks in populated areas etc. Same goes for the elderly.

Are people still going to get this and die from this? Yes. But that will be an inherent risk we will take just like other risks we take every single day like driving cars.

How are they testing for this? Do you know what is the criteria to be classified as positive?

There's still 500 to 700 that die a day in NYC and 2000 went in the hospital yesterday. It could do something like this in every big city if we are not careful.

The N95 mask can help you from catching it. They have said that all along. It’s the other masks that won’t help you.
