Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I just watched a video of them taking what looked like a foot long giant q-tip and running up both nostrils to their brain pan to take a sample . Y’all can do as you please , I’ll not be participating in that little exercise . That’s a hard nope .

That's the older version of the test. It causes a lot of people to sneeze and/or cough so the provider had to wear new PPE for each test.

That's why the front of nose test was such a big deal and it was talked about so much in the news conferences. The provider gives the patient a swab who swabs themselves. The patient gives the swab back to the provider who puts it in test media. Much less PPE.

"modest challenges"??? Understatement...

Correct. The debate went on for a long time, the public record speaks for itself, and the Pizzagate level conspiracy theories sort of do all the heavy lifting of discrediting the author. Takes all the fun out of it.

Plus, watching the mental gymnastics of a Trumpist trying to go after Amash on the grounds that he didn’t do enough to stop Trump from making even more invasive surveillance kosher was much more entertaining.

This is genuinely, deliciously funny.

You set out to show that Amash isn't ignoring the FBI, DOJ, et al abuse of Trump and staff. Congratulations! - no idea how long it took you to find an obscure tweet he wasn't even the author of, but well done!

Here's where it's gets funny:
(Amash) "...The evidence shows that FISA itself is the problem, not that it was improperly used in only one circumstance, i.e., to go after Trump & Co. The liberty of all Americans is threatened by the surveillance state."

Now, focus for just a moment: that's your proof Amash isn't ignoring the very abuse I describe. Which you now term "Pizzagate level conspiracy theories".

IOW, you proved Amash is engaging in "Pizzagate level conspiracy theories", and agreeing "Trump and Co." were wronged by those very agencies.

Now, aren't you the clever little fellow!

The idiot is petty spot on. Not only did the big corporations need immediate relief about half of American families couldn't make it a month without a paycheck. That's two signs that our economy wasn't what it should to be. Not knocking just Trump's economy. It has been the same since the 70's. In the 50s and 60s when I grew up one and occasionally two parents were working, buying a house and sending their children to college and still saving a little money. All of that really started to change with Reaganomics.
By the time Reagan got here, the damage had already been done. Two things happened that drained the working man's spending power was the removal of silver in our money in 1964 and the Nixon Gold Shock in 1971. What the powers that be realized is that the working man wouldn't be able to drive the economy anymore on just one income, so they encouraged more women to work to help make ends meet and they began to ramp up consumer credit.

The Vietnam War was the catalyst for both of those... most people have no idea just how costly and consequential that war was and the impact it has on this country to this day.

It started to change with the creation of massive amounts of government waste and fraud, the creation of the welfare state, and the price inflation of the 60s/70s due to poor economic policies.
Waste and fraud brought on by the Vietnam War and the roll out of the Military Industrial Complex,The MIC represents one of the biggest transfers of wealth from poor to rich in world history...seriously. We went from having a nation that had a strong middle class to a quickly diminishing middle class in 60 years. Not to mention the blood lost and intellectual drain from productive endeavors to destructive endeavors.

His comments about nursing homes doesn't surprise me. I was posting here in some chats back and forth previously that this would be the issue with the idea of targeted lockdown / protecting the most at risk. How do you actually do it? I think it will prove very difficult to isolate only a portion of a population.
A whole lot better in the long term to do that instead of isolating the entire population. What you propose is no different than what the Chinese call the One Cut Policy. Suppose there is a tumor or growth on someone's hand. One option would be to go in and surgically/carefully remove the growth with many small surgical cuts. But this takes up a lot of time and resources. The other option would be to just cut off the hand with one cut.

It says they’re living at home, nothing says they’re staying home or doing the things they should do, sooooo
I get it, it doesn't fit your narrative Cuomo was referring to people who were staying at home. That model also includes people who are considered an essential employee.

Exactly, it’s a survey.

"Much of of this comes down to what you do to protect yourself," Cuomo said.
"Everything is closed down. Government has done everything it could. Society has done everything it could. Now it's up to you. Are you wearing a mask? Are you doing the hand sanitizer? If you have younger people who are visiting you and may be out there and may be less diligent with the social distancing. Are you staying away from older people?"

This is the important part.
Looks like the only solution would be to ratchet up the NY shutdown. Start cracking some skulls if no one wears a mask or social distances.

Now do one for economics
You would have had a better case for there being a difference between Republicans and Democrats, economically speaking, prior to the presidency of Donald Trump. His fiscal policy has been as reckless and irresponsible as any president's in history. Even before the COVID-19 bailouts, Trump was going to spend more money than Obama... and in the aftermath of COVID-19? Trump is going to blow Obama's spending out of the water.

Georgia is now just like Puerto Rico.
It's not about Biden. It is about his VP. Probably Moochelle, and Biden will either resign shortly after taking office or the Dems will start proceedings under the 25th. Yep... the Dems.
Does Biden even remember saying he was going to pick a woman for VP? Also, has he ever given a reason why other than "its a woman!"..?

I still can’t believe Kevin Hasset and that civic model. I know he’s out there trying to say that he didn’t intend it to be a forecast. But 1) it appears some in the White House took it that way and 2) if you want to ‘smooth data’ why not just use a moving average and why plot any points of the cubic fit (not model) beyond where we have measured current data? I’ve always felt Kevin just worked too hard to please. I remember his press conference from mid-18 where he rolled out all these different plots of why the economy was amazing and it was only because of Trump and on almost every one there were tricks played with the way the data was shown chosen or shown in order to drive home a point. Basically data warfare. At the time I was like “I get that you aren’t making this up, but really, Kevin?” And the second I heard about “Kevin’s cubic model has deaths going to zero in 11 days” the exact same thought occurred to me.

In other news, despite a lot of people giving IHME a lot of grief (and they do deserve some regarding their initial hospitalization projections), their death modeling in that First March release has held up quite well. We’ll see if their recent revisions factoring in opening back up hold up as well or whether factors like warmer weather turn the tide.

Are you suggesting that sunlight does not kill this virus faster and that you can build immunities by staying safe inside your residence?
