Somebody else called it virtue signaling. In a way, it is, but to the extent that most people believe it’s effective, it serves the purpose of increasing consumer confidence and increasing the velocity of money through the economy by making people feel secure in going back to work and going out to spending.

Which is why I was making fun of people who said we should reopen the economy and pitched a fit about the masks.

What’s to make of fun of?

Why can’t the people who want to wear a mask wear them?

Want to wear gloves? Go for it.

Want to stay inside and away from other people? Be my guest.

Masks should not be a requirement. If businesses insist on it to enter their store, OK. I can choose to comply or take my business elsewhere.

I got a great idea from this post.

Half million dollar grandma bunkers. We'll put one in every backyard in America. Anyone who doesn't get one hates their grandma.

Forget nursing homes. Put Grammy in that bunker with 3 years worth of food and seal that mother ****er up.

A modest proposal - all those governors, mayors etc who tell us they are being driven by science and data should share with the public exactly what science and data they are relying on. If their actions are truly driven this way there should be no issue with sharing the inputs and calculus.
