Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Well gird your loins, sir, you’re about to be made fun of.

You want the economy back, how does that happen?
People have to spend money.
For anything with a brick and mortar location, that generally means consumers have to come to their location.
Presumably non brick and mortar businesses can’t sustain the economy on their own because they haven’t been inhibited by shut downs.
For consumers (and employees) to come to those locations, the consumer (Or employee) has to feel like the risk/reward is in their favor.
This analysis is not based on reality, but on perception.

So, the operative question is: do you think there is an economically significant number of people who think that wearing masks makes us safer and will stay home willingly to avoid contracting the virus?

Before you reflexively say no, consider that every governor who has shut down their state, including Trumpist whipping girl Gretchen Whitmer, has a 60% plus approval rating.
The governors with sub-60% approval tend to be the ones who are reopening their states or being more lackadaisical towards the virus.

So, the bottom line is that, for people throwing hissy fits over masks, the average consumer‘s perception of safety (and therefore the economic recovery) is less significant than personal vanity, obstinance, or whatever superficial considerations are making them resist the mask. For those people who didn’t take a position on the economy, thats just a prudential determination. But for those who were crybabying back in April, it’s peak selfish hypocrisy or narcissistic vanity. They demanded that people go back to work (or lose their unemployment), even if they didn’t feel safe, and now they’ve largely got what they wanted, but are not willing to strap a 30 cent piece of cloth to their face because....... it makes them look stupid? It’s hot? It’s not effective?

Thank god you people never put your brains towards consideration of wearing pants.

I said I wanted the economy opened up again. I want business owners to have their liberty restored. Likewise, I want people free to choose whether they wear PPE or not.

You just wasted a lot of time typing that out for nothing.

You keep thinking you understand something we don’t. We all want business open and doing well. And we all want businesses to make the decisions they need to to be successful. That’s separate from where or not we think masks should be required. If a business seems it’s best for them then so be it. I go to Costco and wear a mask bc I want to go to Costco. What many of us are arguing is that people are morons for thinking the mask helps them. When, in fact, you read everything up until recently saying you are more likely to make yourself sick by wearing one. People love a security blanket.

Shouldn’t the news be doing the right thing. I keep hearing more and more people are positive. Isn’t that driving down hospitalization and death rate numbers? That’s good. Stop screaming we’re all going to die. Because the numbers look better today then they ever did.

I don’t know about that. She came at him pretty hard in the debates. Don’t know if he will forgive those attacks. His two best options, since he’s limited himself to a female VP, are Amy and the Gov. of New Mexico.

If he's smart he won't pick Harris. Klobuchar is his best bet, but he won't pick her.

Why don’t you take a swing at explaining how your excuses for not wanting to wear a mask are relevant to whether or not people feeling safe influences the economy, because my explanations for why that isn’t relevant clearly aren’t doing the trick.

Also, I never said masks should be required. Where did you get that from?

It’s a message board where nobody ever changes their mind. I’m sure I’ve never posted something here that wasn’t a waste of time.

Where are people not free to wear a mask? I said very clearly that it’s a prudential decision. I’m pointing out what choices say about priorities and what priorities say about the person. I’m not advocating that the government bolt a mask on your face.

Yes we all get that it’s a smart business move. We would just like the top story to be “this damn thing isn’t as bad as we thought it was.” What are you struggling with here?

Man you think you are way smarter then you are. Probably why you have the avi that you do.

Whose posts are you even reading?

I’m not taking about the businesses.

I’m taking about individual choices.

And what those choices say about the individual.

Can I make it any simpler?

are businesses requiring masks to encourage the public to come out?
And they are doing so to drive sales. Isn’t that the argument? If not you are bad at communicating.

Do you think any idiot should be able to figure out that this is why some businesses are requiring people to wear masks?

To create a sense of security that they hope will bring out consumers. Yes.
Of course. You keep thinking you are the only one who thought of this. How about we have the news share with the public that while more people are testing positive hospitalization rates and death rates are Going down? How is that not the lead?

Of course.

So then it’s fair to assume that individuals are equipped with the knowledge that wearing a mask has the potential to positively impact the economy when making the decision of whether or not to do so.

Presuming they’re capable of figuring this out is critical to my judgment that they’re ass holes.

Thank you.

LOL - how "I believe he took it" translates to "admits it saved his life".

It's nuts how people are so vested in it works or it's the worst drug ever.

That will happen when a divisive POTUS touts the drug for unexplainable reasons. It immediately becomes a political issue. I’ll bet you anything HCQ is nothing more than a passing 10 minute story if Trump doesn’t publicly endorse it and tout it as a harmless solution.

I’m in the camp that I will take whatever treatment my doctor prescribes. Be it HCQ or aspirin.

It can also drive customers away when you act crazy about it like Bath and Body works is right now..... Here is an example of what is going to happen..... from sitting in my medical meetings..... I feel this disease is a big ole nothing burger right now..... I have been out to eat and shopping several times..... I am over a staff of 9-10 people.... I was the first one going out and living my life.... now about 3-4 more have started and probably by the end of next month all of them will be..... it is a gradual process and the quicker it gets started the better.

This is what is fake news, this dip sh!t Daniel Uhlfelder saying this is the most cases Florida has had in a month. Then Governor DeSantis with a big f$%k your couch off the top ropes. There are some sad sacks of sh!t in our society cheering this virus on just because they hate the right so much and it's sick

Gunshot Victims Counted as Chi-Com Virus Deaths in the Democrat-Ruled State of Washington
This is bad:
1. DOH includes deaths of all persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in its totals, even if the victims died from other causes, such as gunshot wounds.
“Our (DOH COVID-19) dashboard numbers do include any deaths to a person that has tested positive to COVID-19.”
“We don’t always know the cause of death for a death when it is first reported on our dashboard. That is true. Over the course of the outbreak, we have been monitoring and recording the causes of death as we know it. We currently do have some deaths that are being reported that are clearly from other causes. We have about five deaths — less than five deaths — that we know of that are related to obvious other causes. In this case, they are from gunshot wounds.”
...
“We also have a number of certificates where it’s really unclear at all what the person died from… For these deaths, we really don’t — aren’t able to make a determination on whether they died from COVID or not.”
...
The controversy could have been easily avoided if Inslee’s administration had followed the lead of Gov. Jared Polis’ administration in Colorado.
Last week, after it was reported that, like Washington, Colorado was counting deaths of all COVID-19 positive persons regardless of cause (which had resulted in the inclusion of deaths from alcohol poisoning), the Colorado Department of Health and Environment began to differentiate between deaths “among people with COVID-19” and “deaths due to COVID-19.”
