Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I work in healthcare so it luckily hasn’t affected my work any
I work in the hospitality tourism industry. At first I didnt really do much, but as this lock down extends ive been looking into other avenues, and as soon as things open back up im planning on looking into a career change. As much as this lockdown has sucked, I had become complacent before it and probably never wouldve denied to make this move.
Anyway back to the main subject. I never realized how much we actually need human interaction, even a simple smile of wave. You dont realize it til its gone.

Man, I hate to hear this. I'm seeing it every day. It kills me. I'm just trying to go above and beyond to be sensitive to the needs of my patients and to hear out and encourage my parents.

I see a huge proportion of my area's teachers and policy makers' kids. I'm not lying when I say that they are 95+% behind opening schools on time without restriction and getting these kids back to "normal."
I like the idea of opening on time and finishing by Thanksgiving if they can get all the material in thats needed.

@volfanhill One more thing: be intentional and try to encourage play dates and other social interactions for her. My daughter is also 8, and she has really rebounded as we have done the same. I've also made special time for us to play games, take bike rides/roller blade, swim, etc. I'm not sure which of us it's helped more :)

Fortunately, as is the case around the world, children have been largely unaffected by the infection itself. However, the social isolation, lack of access to medical care, limited therapy services, etc has been devastating.

To date, not a single admission to our tertiary-care hospital in Knoxville. No pediatric deaths. And now, we have good studies showing that kids are not "asymptomatically" spreading the virus to the older/frail population.

It's been the hardest three months of my 16 year career
Yep. This has done more damage then good. Even if it becomes law that we have to wear masks whatever, we need to open back up and let humans become humans again. We are social beings.
Also I dont want anybody to die from this, but im really glad this virus has no effect on kids.

I had to force our autistic son out after he was inside for over a month...he's gets into routines...poor little guy was ducking his head in the car while we were driving...he's getting more used to being outside again we went to the splash pads and he asked to go to Buc-ees last week

That’s awesome that he asked to go out .

I’ve experienced the same sentiment with parents in my area as well...... but there are still outliers that think death and destruction are imminent if they leave the house.

I also have an autistic son and this has definitely messed with his routine. I completely understand your situation.

I appreciate you and your posts. I am so worried about how this has impacted my 8 year old daughter. In many ways she has grown. Which is good. In many more ways it’s been bad, she has less desire to be social besides me and her mom, because until last month we were all she was around.
I often find myself simply staring into the distance and whispering “the virus” whenever my wife relays the batshit story of the day about someone we know or whatever article she’s read. Now my six year old does it. This pleases me.

Also our pastor has taken to filling the entire hour with probably a 30 minute sermon as opposed to the usual 15-20 when people are there. We were watching Sunday and he was long winded again, my daughter just blurts out UGH TELL SOME JOKES OR SOMETHING. I laughed but my next thought was what if she does this when we go back.

Proprs to your company for giving you that. Ive been off since March and just got a letter that its looking like October, but after being in lockdown im ready to go somewhere, anywhere. Im actually flying down to Florida with my parents soon but id go somewhere else fast, quickly and in a hurry if we got that second check
why so late in the year to be recalled ?

Honestly no idea, originally our date was June 1 then they sent out letters and calls saying everything would be extended through October 2. They've also send out voluntary leave options and have given until the end of August to take it or not.

Id say your best bet is a new occupation - if you are young enough you wont regret it in the future

Im def young enough. Prob shouldn't share my age over the internet but whatever im 23. Funny thing is what ive been looking into is probably less likely then just waiting it out at my job. Ive been researching trying to go work for some airlines so I can travel because ive wanted to do that since I was young.

"Investors were keeping an eye on China, where officials stepped up measures to stamp out a fresh outbreak of coronavirus in Beijing, with 60% of commercial flights in and out of the Chinese capital reportedly canceled. The Chinese capital also raised its threat level on Wednesday, with schools closed and travel restricted. "

Just my $0.02. Fauci stated it was inevitable prior to an avalanche of political pressure on him. Most medical experts seem to lean on a high probability of it happening.
if you're willing to admit fauci and the cdc have political pressure, are you willing to admit the political pressure isn't confined to only one aspect (2nd wave)?

Definitely. There's a huge amount of pressure to re-open businesses and try to get our economy back up and running. Trump having a rally of 20K in a packed indoor venue this weekend (with no social distancing and no requirement to wear masks) is geared towards changing people's mindset, and that it's safe to go about our lives normally. I think this rally is insane, and is testimony to Trump doing what he does best... stupid sh*t.

Ive been opposed to a 2nd stimulus but think this might save some businesses
Could a $4,000 domestic travel credit be part of a second stimulus payment?
