It's not hard to understand. The numbers in east Tennessee are very small compared to the rest of the country. I've told my wife that people won't continue staying at home until the virus hits them hard.

I don’t think they will play and frankly don’t want them to but I do recognize the impact of no season. What I can’t comprehend is why we see so much misinformation, media pressure to present one side ( everyone including all the scientists in the world should LISTEN to doctors treating patients, not censoring them) if this was simply about beating Covid. My opinion is it’s not.

There’s a lot going on here but I guess I would just address the protesters. That was or is a mob of people taking to the streets. Doesn’t matter who agrees with it. We’re talking about sanctioned sports. One of these is a group of people who act on emotion. The other is trying to navigate this situation intelligently. That’s all I can really say about that.
And, it’s not about living in fear. Personally. I do not fear death. I’d like to be around for my children, plain and simple. In 1976 I had open heart surgery when I was 2 months old. My heart was the size of a plum in a day when they were probably smoking cigarettes in the operating room. I never thought I’d make it to 30. In 43 now and have considered everyday a blessing from God. I cheated death a long time ago and God can take me at any time. I just try to make intelligent decisions for my children and my loved ones. That’s all.

I'm not buying a subscription to the Washington Post. If student athletes don't want to play, next man up. If you don't understand the economic impact(s) of playing SEC football this fall, you need to get an education. Are there risks? Sure! People are suffering brain damage, bad knees, all sorts of things from playing football. There are people dying from cancer, wrecks, heart disease, alzheimer's, gun violence, and on and on. I support opening up and playing. If you do not play, you lose your scholarship. Simple as that. This concept of taxpayers or fans paying for you to get an education and not playing football or working to pay for it is ridiculous. That dog don't hunt. It is a free country. Free not to work and free to go get a job.

Intelligence has absolutely nothing to do with this. If that were the case, the season would already be cancelled and all fall classes wouldve been moved to online only. That is the ONLY smart thing to do.

It's Fauci, and they initially said not to go buying up all the masks so that essential workers would have access to them. As far as I can remember, people have been universally recommending masks since sometime in March or April.

At the game, he was with his small group of friends/family, which is also part of the guidelines, and therefore wasn't wearing a mask. All of this information is readily available if people just take the time for 30 seconds of critical thinking.

Agreed. I suppose I was referring to the student athletes when speaking of navigating intelligently. The commissioners are seeing dollar signs. What a mess. I look at this the same way I look at my kids school opening up, doesn’t really matter about the debate, the outbreaks are inevitable and it’s destined to collapse. Not sure how that’s avoidable.

I know people that got tested to make sure they didn’t have it before going to visit elderly family members. They didn’t have it, they had no symptoms, and to their knowledge they hadn’t been around anyone that had. It was merely a precaution. But I’m sure their tests skewed the numbers.
