The only point of lockdowns are to give the hospitals a chance to deal with the sick without running out of beds or equipment. If you don't lock down the virus spreads very quickly overwhelming the health care system.

I wasn’t scared and went on a trip, now dealing with the consequences. Having to go to the doctor this week to see what the heck is wrong with me. Had active Covid symptoms for two weeks and now 21 days later have elevated heart rate, tinnitus, headaches, and numbness and bizzare feelings of nausea and fatigue. Hope to god I don’t have heart damage and neurological damage from Covid. I’m scared and I’m just sick of hearing my fellow vol fans try to downgrade or outright say this virus is a hoax. I’m 38 years old and healthy with no underlying conditions whatsoever before I contracted Covid. Go Vols.

It seemed Cuomo did ok in the spring. I have not kept track since, So IDK. I obviously have strong feelings about the Federal nonresponse.

One thing I read has stuck with me. The response to this serious health threat affecting everyone shows Americans have lost their fear/respect for communicable diseases. That is dangerous. We were lucky for a good run of public health safety (barring HIV). We had some close calls, but they were contained. Scientists and officials worked hard to protect society and now the immunological arms race has gone up a notch.

We did stop travel from China early. Give Trump some credit for that. It would have grown much faster & broader. We should have protected and quarantined the elderly & those with health conditions first, not last. Masked up and continued on.

It is when you come in close contact with others. This picture is just political and I’m anti-Fauci. Same way with the Trump picture a few days ago where he was not wearing a mask.

Yes, with CTE the players also had a choice to "just not play" and not risk head injuries. The NFL is still facing CTE lawsuits anyway. I'm saying I could see the same thing happening here, with a league generally charging forward without knowing/doing much investigation into the risks.

Actually the bigger threat to college football will be when the players who did not go to the NFL bring suit against the colleges for CTE. Just due to the numbers that could financially destroy the game. Only 5 percent of college players make it into the NFL. The rest have yet to seek financial compensation.

And the only correlation with masks is a negative one. Meaning people who are most likely to wear masks are the ones who live in countries that have been decimated by this. Countries that handled this really well have citizens who have been less likely to wear masks.

So the two main media narratives (this is because people aren’t wearing masks and republicans reopened their states) are both false narratives.

Why they tolerate players dying from other reasons. Like the flu, drunk driving, heat exhaustion, diabetes, heart disease, all those lead covid deaths by a mile. They are 6 x more likely to die of the flu and 10 x more likely to die in trauma than covid

I keep waiting to hear the status of these athletes. They’ve tested “positive”...are they ill? Hospitalized? At home with terrible fevers and body aches? Or literally completely 100% unaware they ever even contracted the virus until they were forced to take a mandatory test? And would otherwise remain entirely unaware and asymptomatic?

They are most likely just fine right now. Because they are tested daily they caught it very early. The incubation period is 2 weeks. So I guess we will know in 2 weeks.

He rounded up ventilators. Established emergency overflow capacity for hospitals. I bet he made lots of mistakes. Maybe some major ones. It was June before Covid-19 was confirmed to be a circulatory disease. So the earliest patient treatments were more often ineffective. I don't know much about NY since end of April. Been too busy watching my local numbers grow everyday.

I don’t understand how anyone can say he did anything right in April...roughly 25% of the total deaths come from NY...his nursing home move was essentially murder. Sure, NY has been declining, but it was the state with the highest mountain to begin with. Steadily declining since April, yet no other state is remotely close to their deaths, even after 5 months of this..
