Well: Knox County peaked on Dec 19, IIRC, and transmission typically lags a couple of weeks due to in-home spread etc after an index case. Plus: far more students are back to in-person after the first of the year, restaurants are busier than they have been in 11 months, sporting events have fans (unless you unfortunately live in California), and it's absolutely the peak time of year for respiratory viruses to survive and spread.

Additionally, we saw roughly a quadrupling in cases from mid-Oct until just before Thanksgiving, with a much smaller increase from Thanksgiving to the end of the year.

The insanity. So, I had the antibody test performed yesterday. Negative. Surprising since I’ve literally been surrounded by those who’ve had it. I haven’t missed a day of work and am constantly exposed to new people of whom I’m in close contact.

There are a few things I practice everyday that I believe have made a difference.

I don't see how that's the case. The lab here at Baylor found the UK variant in early December while doing testing for the county. They noticed the genetic makeup was slightly different, but it still came back a positive test.

It's pretty clear that the Biden administration's strategy is to promote much more fear, I think to counterbalance what they saw as Trump downplaying the situation. So now it's get your shot or you're dead but even if you have your shot you could die or kill grandma, this farce we see about when can we open schools when millions of kids are already in school full time, saying we'll need masks in 2022, etc. Whether they believe this garbage is hard to tell but I think their goal is to scare people so much some of them will move to the middle instead of continuing to doubt.

At this point I cannot think of a more symbolic waste of money and perfect example of government ineptitude then sending masks to people a year after a pandemic started. Please give me another $600 of my own money daddy.

I cynically believe that this needs to be kept up for the relief Bill. Wouldn’t need 1.9trillion in Covid relief if there wasn’t any Covid.

The support for that is fading fast but it's also a bill toting a lot of water for democrat causes so they're going to be very reluctant to let it die.

Exactly. And if there were positive news about the virus, that would lead to even less support of this bill. Hence, we’re in the best place we’ve been in this past year but we continue to be told it’s only getting worse.

Possibilities:
a) the warm, summer months of January and February have resulted in less transmission of virus, as people spent more time outdoors, and reduced "survival" of the virus due to heat and humidity.

b) Joe Biden's magic scared the virus away two weeks before entering office.

c) the entire nation shut down, ceased all travel, and locked ourselves in our homes, without businesses, restaurants, sporting events, or schools in operation.

d) enough people have developed antibodies/immune protection that the transmission of CV19 has dropped in dramatic fashion (at the exact time that I predicted months ago), which continues -- aided by vaccine distribution.
