Honestly, I wonder how much of Fauci's cockups were due to his concerns with Trump's approach. Was he trying to outpace what he felt was misinformation coming from the same podium he was speaking from?

This is the 2nd of my predictions made this morning to come true.

If the 3rd does, I'm buying a lottery ticket.

There's significant blame to be laid at Trump's feet, sure. But Fauci, if the trajectory of information continues in the same direction, made the bigger errors by not letting the data speak for itself. Never massage the data to fit your message. Ever.

on the first comment: Fauci continued his misrepresentation well into the Biden administration. Whether it was for the good of the nation (the noble lie) or stubbornness or something else it seems to be pretty consistent throughout the pandemic

Hrm... Large droplets that could contain other biological matter, yes?
Now what about the huge number of particles that occur just due to normal respiration?

You post screams of “if it saves just one life” emotional baseless BS dude.

That’s why I teach my kids telling an inconvenient truth is much easier than a convenient lie. If he was obfuscating or misrepresenting for any reason, maintaining that becomes his full time job.

I dint believe there’s a way for him to come back from this.

He's got to be close to retirement - he's 80 and most of the media still considers him to be infallible. I think his reputation will be intact for most of the public. Just as some are vilifying him; there are others that are actively spinning the emails in a positive light.

It will just be one more divide IMHO.

Lot's of goodies in this article

"A months long Vanity Fair investigation, interviews with more than 40 people, and a review of hundreds of pages of U.S. government documents, including internal memos, meeting minutes, and email correspondence, found that conflicts of interest, stemming in part from large government grants supporting controversial virology research, hampered the U.S. investigation into COVID-19’s origin at every step. In one State Department meeting, officials seeking to demand transparency from the Chinese government say they were explicitly told by colleagues not to explore the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s gain-of-function research, because it would bring unwelcome attention to U.S. government funding of it.

In an internal memo obtained by Vanity Fair, Thomas DiNanno, former acting assistant secretary of the State Department’s Bureau of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance, wrote that staff from two bureaus, his own and the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, “warned” leaders within his bureau “not to pursue an investigation into the origin of COVID-19” because it would “‘open a can of worms’ if it continued.”"

more from the VF article

Then came the revelation that the Lancet statement was not only signed but organized by a zoologist named Peter Daszak, who has repackaged U.S. government grants and allocated them to facilities conducting gain-of-function research—among them the WIV itself. David Asher, now a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, ran the State Department’s day-to-day COVID-19 origins inquiry. He said it soon became clear that “there is a huge gain-of-function bureaucracy” inside the federal government.

There were those videos in the beginning of last year that got out showing Chinese police boarding up peoples’ homes with no way out and painting something in red roses indicate they were suspected of having the virus. I’m sure what they’ve done to people suspected of having has been horrendous.
Let's bring that kind of government here.

Oh wait.

Fauci should have been doing one thing, and one thing only. Providing the science. That's it. He got political. Now he's nothing but a little political **** stump that should be thrown out with the rest of the trash in DC. His 'concerns' about Mr Trump's approach were none of his business.

Like Cuomo, nothing will happen to him. He'll 'retire', collect his pension, go on the lecture circuit (who would pay that fraud is way beyond me, but...) and sell his book. He won.
