Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I don't know, but if this weekly total is any indication or can be extrapolated out - then yeah, I'd say so.

Again, my small county here in Florida has 54 covid related deaths just this week. If worldometer is reporting 16 for the whole state, then there's clearly a disconnect.

They are above 200 for the week, but dropped off a cliff the past 3 days.

It is a local public school system, lol. These directions arent flowing from highly intelligent people.

Seriously. You know I’ve been pro vax and still am, but there is no logic or scientific basis for what they are subjecting students and families to in the public school system. They are trying to eliminate risk altogether, which is a pointless exercise because you cannot totally eliminate risk without subverting freedom.

They are making decisions based on the logic of banning all automobiles because it will save lives by eliminating car accidents.

the NYT data shows 6 for the entire state on the last day reported but that's an artifact of how reporting comes in - the 7 day average which somewhat accounts for the variation is around 227 for the state.

I agree, there's clearly a lag between the immediate deaths and the reporting. I see where allvol got his numbers, I'm just saying they aren't accurate - not yet anyway.

I use the site daily, there is not a history of reporting bigger numbers days later for day X. It happens, but that isnt the normal operation. They have posted 3 straight days of deaths in single digits. Maybe they have a correction coming, will see.

agreed - the 7 day average is the best indicator. At least new cases appear to be trending down, I imagine they'll be about 3 weeks before we see that in the death counts.

But with these unimaginable death totals it sure hasn't slowed the influx of visitors or new residents. Maybe all those yanks are bringing it down with them. Can't wait for the snow bird migration to spike the numbers
I wonder if we will see cyclical regional outbreaks correlated to being indoors more? The South indoors in summer. The north indoors in winter.

Possibly. Washington and Oregon are both really high in case counts right now ... and they've both been super hot, forcing people indoors more.

20% of the total breakthroughs in MA have happened within the last week alone; clearly not very effective against Delta. That number will continue to rise but of course when compared to the total vaxed population it’ll remain relatively small. Just like the deaths when compared to the total US population are relatively small.

That's not how math works.
Within the last few weeks it is. You can pick any timeline or denominator to make your end number what ever you want it to be. For example why would one worry about the CFR % when that’s predicated on being infected in the first place and it’s skewed by one particular age bracket? Doesn’t stop the media from telling us get vaxed or wind up dead.

so the total numbers don't look much different. Massachusetts - COVID-19 Overview - Johns Hopkins
Comparing the previously linked article numbers for the week:
1600 new cases a day x 7 = 11,200. so the 3000 makes up more than a quarter of all cases.
6.89 million so 0.0016% of the population infected (vs 0.0003 for vaccinated)

if the vaccine infection rates don't scare you, I don't see why the non vaccinated numbers scare you. sure, on the absolute side of things they are worse, but barely worth mentioning.

That just doesn't make any since because you can still spread it if you are vaxed. They should have just sent the whole school home and let them return next week with a negative test.
I can't even begin to understand the whole if you wait until the 8th day your out until the 10th.

If my understanding is correct, they have over half the school on quarantine and 6 positive cases although that number is likely to jump since this version so much easier to transmit.
I know you job requires you to be around the little heathens, so stay safe.
We have more than 6 positive cases and are at 95% attendance.

Sad note. One of our middle schools lost their 42 year old (otherwise healthy) resource officer to COVID last night. He leaves behind a wife and an 11 year old daughter. There are 5 system employees in ICU.

So, if 40% of all cases are vaccinated, then the vaccine is 60% effective? That's your argument?

Australia's 7 day average is under 900 cases. It's under 50 for NZ.

Mid-size cities in Florida have more cases.
