Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Continue searching for the perfect cocktail of horse tranquilizers, essential oils, disenfectants, and prayers to whatever god you have.

I'm sure it'll work out well
I’m not sure I understand some of you “vaccine only” types.
I’m vaccinated and have openly defended being vaccinated on here. I’ve blown up false numbers from both sides of the debate as that garbage just gets in the way. My question for you is, why are you and the “vaccine only” types so opposed to the study of treatment? It seems to me like arguing against the use of airbags because we only need seatbelts.

There's a difference between the studying of treatment and coming back with solid numbers that backs it up. The people recommending the use of all these anti-vaxxx treatments have neither of those.

Quite frankly, they are talking out of their ass and contributing towards people getting sick, hospitalized, and killed.

The vaccine has become religion to some people. My wife's work has essentially banned employees from the property if you have a work from home job and aren't vaxxed. They won't even let you come pick things up outside. Meanwhile they have vaxxed employees going to weddings, getting on airplanes, going to bars, etc. and they are welcomed inside with open arms and no masks. You can be unvaxxed, go few to no places, and be a leper that is somehow less safe than a vaxxed person who appears to be trying to get sick. There's no logic to these stances, but then again logic left the station a long time ago.

The only way its anti-vax is that in and of itself it is not vax. You dont see "anti vaxers" wanting to deny people service based on their vaccination status. It's the vaxxers that seem to be jack arses of only treating the vaxxed. If anything this "anti vax" method of looking for more solutions is far more inclusive, and seeks to help everyone. Even the self righteous vaxxers who get sick and need treatment.

It's weird the pro vaxxers only want to help people via a vax. Anything else is not allowed, cant be allowed, and has to be attacked with bs arguments like yours.

I see this kind of stance from both sides actually.
The all or nothing approach is beyond stupid

We stopped the world for a virus that statistically speaking does very little damage to the 50 and under crowd. Logic left the barn awhile ago.

When the anti-vaxxers come up with something that works as well as the vaccine let me know. So far the solution has been zinc pills, animal tranquilizers or parasitic pills, household disinfectant, and spending $25 -$40 on an inconclusive antibody test.

The vaccine is safe, effective, and free. If you don't want to get it then that is your choice, albeit a stupid one.

This is what I'm seeing as well. If you want to get the vax, get the vax. If you want to wear a mask, wear a mask. If you don't, then don't. Regardless of stance, when it comes to other people, just keep your mouth shut let them do them.

The problem that arises is that the unvaxxed are clogging up hospitals like a toilet at taco bell. The "let me do me" argument holds water until everyone else tries to utilize medical care that is stretched to its breaking point, which is what's happening. Where hospital resources and medical professionals are exhausted and unable to deliver the same quality care if it weren't for the influx of unvaccinated patients requiring acute and now chronic care.

I don't know how many times it needs to be pointed out that this argument is is selfish and myopic, but I'll keep doing it.

If it weren't for this immutable fact, I'd be happy to watch the gene pool cleanse itself of the mouth breathing antivaxxers - it'd truly be a self limiting problem.

Could have sworn I posted this already but don't see it so here it is again.

#s from UAB hospital - 166 in for Covid: 15% are vaccinated, 14.5% of those in ICU are vaccinated and 19% of those on ventilators are vaccinated.

A great case for being vaxxed.

Does 15% vaccinated in hospital with Covid seem high to anyone else?

yes - and particular the ICU/vent cases. It's why I posted it.
I wonder if the public will have to change expectations of what a vaccine does. We have been conditioned with other diseases and vaccines that inoculation prevents the disease completely.

Alabama has a low rate of vaccination (37% of population fully vaxxed). Given that it does seem like a high number of the hospitalized are are vaxxed.

It's not perfect analysis but if the vax did nothing then the split should be 63% of hospitalized unvaxxed, 37% vaxxed. As it stands it's 85/15 so that's in favor of the vax working but not the ratio we might expect if it was working really well for the variant.

I think everyone knows you can get the flu vaccine and still get the flu.

more importantly to me it raises questions about efforts directed at a booster rather than efforts directed at a different version of the vaccine.

sure - for me the expectation is not getting Covid with the vax but the expectations said case will be mild. in the anecdotal evidence at UAB there are more than expected breakthrough cases with severe consequences.
