If wanting private entities to make their own rules, independent of the government, make us "corporatists", then so be it.

You either want smaller government or you want bigger government to force others to do as you wish.

We had a deadline late in December. Most employees were taking the shots against their will in November to keep their jobs. January and February we saw the most cases of covid among employees missing an average of 5-7 days. They just survived 2 years of working with covid cases and just now caught covid. Highly unusual.

I've said many, many times I'm absolutely opposed to employers mandating their employees be vaccinated as a condition of employment.

Actually you're giving the state govt the right to dictate internal behavior of companies. Maybe you believe DeSantis isn't that bad but can you say that for everyone who will occupy that chair?

What he should have said is that no federal mandates will be enforced in Florida. That keeps it free and open without forcing a pov

“The people” are not one entity. We don’t need kings issuing laws. I hate masks, am against them, will avoid shopping anyplace that requires them. That said, this is none of his business.

As someone with an autistic child, those milestones did help us identify something was off and get him into speech and occupational therapy at a young age. Now it will be likely be backed up for others in the future. Toddlers learn a lot from watching the faces of their parents and others and if those faces are covered with masks that impacts the child’s development.

Let's circle back to the change. At 18 months, it has changed from 3 words to 10 words. 3 to 10 is not going to let you know if your child is autistic. And if you haven't been around an 18 month in a while, words at that age barely sound like words. It's just something you know is something they are trying to say.

My point is that I've heard parents freak out about this stuff, and it's just normal child progression from where I'm standing. Some pick up on things fast, others do not. I have a lot of friends with kids in these age groups, I'd say 50% were not hitting those speech markers. That's just freaking out parents unnecessarily.

I hate masks, but I'm doubting that has anything to do with these figures.

I’d say the kid’s PCP is the best judgment on something like that and a good PCP will be much more credible than some guidelines.

What I don’t know is, does insurance tie in any way to CDC guidelines? Do the approvals by insurance from a referral rely on any way on something like the CDC changing these guidelines?

I wouldn't be surprised. I'm convinced Phizer owns the CDC, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few directors have insurance company jobs lined up too.

These changes seem reasonable. But even the most corrupt can make reasonable changes for nefarious reasons.

They seem reasonable given the circumstances.

The unreasonable part is this should have never happened because we shouldn’t have been masking children.

You don’t think the distancing and masks tie into the changes in developmental expectations? I do. If it doesn’t it sure is awfully coincidental timing. I agree that parents are going to freak over nothing at times but they will do that whether it’s 3 words or 10.
