Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

NYC did do those things and completely shut down. However, to be fair, by the time they did I think it was too late. The virus had been there a while and they had no idea.
There were pics from NYC of commuters jammed packed into subway cars. NYC was cavalier about things initially, imo.

It's pretty amusing how the MSM and state/local governments refuse to admit the riots/protests are the root cause of the current spike.

People behind the curtain in healthcare are discussing it freely among themselves. But you're right, very little MSM coverage.

DJT was skewered here about not wearing a mask and the example he was setting. The CDC sent the same example, or worse, with their "politically derived" lack of guidelines during the protests.

Have a little office quandary. My office manager Karened our mailman last Thursday for showing up without a mask after our idiot county mayor issued his mask order. So no mail Friday and after no mail yesterday I went to the post office to drop mail and find out WTF and that's when they told me about the Karen call. Turns out USPS can't make their carriers wear a mask if they don't want to and if he refuses to wear a mask he doesn't have to go into buildings that require a mask.

So I'm pissed at my office whiner for being a Karen but since this is a federal .gov employee I feel I should make a stink since they can refuse to wear a mask and do their job. What to do?
(In my best Casey Kasem voice) Dear Whiner, I don't know what to tell you but here's Air Supply with "I'm All Out of Love"

Give the mail carrier $50 to place the mail in an used mailbox about 100+ yards away. Send office-Karen out at 3 pm everyday to walk to the drop. After walking in the July afternoon and she returns sweating like Bama fan on Ancestry.com, thank her for the mail and casually lament you wish the mail carrier still delivered to the office.

Tell the mail carrier to ask for a transfer to Knoxville and I'll swap with you. Ours would wear a hazmat suit if he could get his hands on one.

The Spring Breakers, packed bar goers and frat partiers all infected each other long before the riots. That was the root cause.

McRib and I discussing pandemic last night. Some of her sister hospitals are increasing admissions for Covid. They put those patients in a "wing" or "floor" of the building. The facility in North Alabama has one wing full. The hospital system is preparing to share human resources rather than pay $150 an hour for contract nurses.
Anyway, we came to the conclusion that everything was going fine with the phased approach to reopen. People were generally following guidelines. The change in public attitudes were the protests/riots. Once the CDC elected to not recommend stay at home/masking/social distance orders, the cat was out of the bag. A sizable percentage of people decided if the protesters don't have to, I don't have to.
Good news, even with the increase in cases in hospital, the management of those patients is better. Fewer folks in need of critical care, fewer fatalities, less need for respirators (than originally feared back in Feb).

Those travel nurses makin bank 👀

I like the way your mind works.

The company which staff them are, too. That travel gig for health care staff is a pretty cool gig if you're inclined to travel.

NGV just entered the market . There’s a ton of different contracts , the devil is in the details like always .

The Federal Government's initial strategy in dealing with the corona virus was based upon Republican ideology - what is the role of the Federal Government vs what is the role of the States. This was not a political act, that is to say, it was not done for political purpose (to garner support and votes).

Since that time and in light of what has transpired, President Trump and his supporters have done more to politicize covid-19 than other Republicans or Democrats. That they have done so by accusing Democrats of politicizing the nation's covid-19 response should not surprise anyone. This is signature Trump strategy. Similar method help to win the Republican nomination in 2016, the general election in 2016, and swayed public opinion during the past 3&1/2 years. Give the POTUS his due.

Is she working as a travel nurse, PRN coverage, or what?

She just signed a contract that will have her in Richmond 3-4 days a weeks . Hotel rooms paid , food stipend , and will be about 100 miles from the house . You can pretty much negotiate your contract to fit what you want , it also give you the ability to turn down hospitals you don’t want to be at ( for whatever reason )
