Les Miles fired....

Depends... I would say LSU would like to retain him but D can't get teams off the field. People generally give him a break due to new system, they have been great in the red zone... the problem is they can't get teams off the field.

Last night 7 long drives.... only 18 points but long drives.

Yeah - he really shouldn't be employing a bend but don't break scheme at LSU with the talent they have on defense. Perhaps that's what he ran at Wisconsin

I always thought it was interesting he took that job in the first place. Obviously a promotion and performing well in it would open up good HC jobs to him, but he knew there was a chance this would happen with Miles' job security being on a razor's edge.

So the firing just happened in the past couple of hours and already someone has the "inside scoop" on the program reaching out to Herman and Briles?

Seems legit.

LSU basically had Jimbo hired last year before they screwed up the attempt to fire Miles.

Cause they have a good coach and recruiting machine. I remember decades when they were Vandy. They will be again now.

You cannot go 12-1 every year. Period. This is stupidist thing for LSU I have ever heard. They will wander in the wilderness for 10 years! Kinda like UT!

The play vs Auburn brought back visions of Dooley vs LSU though for end of game theatrics!

Yet it's funny how almost every major fanbase thinks they can.

The Sabans and Tom Osbornes are more the exception than the rule; there's not a multitude of them for each power conference team.

Herman was my #1 guy last year... Jimbo played lots of games that caused quite a mess in BR.

A run at Herman made sense last year, makes even more sense right now.

If Houston joins the Big 12 Herman will stay at Houston.

Sorry, just too coincidental for me. Pure click bait.

LSU fires Miles AND we have the exclusive inside scoop on who they are talking to. Pay just $19.95 and get all our insider info!

Not seeing it.

I am not saying they have a scoop, I agree. LSU never stopped talking to people.... Auburn was the game I was told... I kind of didn't believe it but hell if it didn't happen.

Jimbo burned the bridge, Herman was in the mix last year... Herman is the target.

Briles does not deserve to be hired after the way he failed to manage the Baylor program. Disgraceful. I won't have much respect for lsu if they hire that guy, but then we all know there is only one priority in the SEC.

Last year perhaps, but Houston wasn't in the P5 discussions last year, or the inevitable raise to Herman that comes with it.

LSU will have to go $6 mil as a minimum to talk now.

It will become a bidding war. Houston will offer EVERYTHING to keep Herman. He is their ticket to the big leagues. and he knows it too. may not want to coach against the SEC if the Big 12 is there offering.

LSU will undoubtedly offer a lot but they are also carrying around the tab they just opened up.

Very tough for Houston to compete on salary, although it will probably cost LSU more than what it would have last year.

And apparently the same for Louisville.

SIAP but whats the buyout on Miles and Cameron?

My rough guess is $7-12m, I would have to reread the contract and there is some wording I am not sure how to take. Of course, if Les gets a job than there is a draw down as well.

I know it's the west- but what are your thoughts on this- not sure who they may think can do a better job...

Also, any recruits we could go after like Jacoby that we could benefit from? They have quite a recruiting class so far

At one time Derek Dooley was their top choice to replace Miles

Would be interesting if Ed O does well this year - like he did at So Cal as interim coach. Maybe they keep him in the job and he recruits his good buddy Lane to join him on the staff (since he followed LK around all those years, it's time for Lane to return the favor)

When?

Tom herman come on down. He will get a huge raise to stay at Houston, or he will be the tigers next coach. Imho

Except that Herman is less likely to move now, sure.
