Let's talk about Justin Worley

That's not the case with Hunter at all or Z Rogers either.
I don't know how well they will be and neither do you. But my point is that WR is a position that's not the toughest of all Skill positions to grasp.

which skill position is tougher to grasp?

Worley seems like a good kid and has a decent arm. I'm just ready to move into the phase of using the whole field, including the qb's legs. I think, besides defense, that's how you can pull some games out or extend drives that keeps your offense off the field. Every team we played knew for the past 4 years that we were going to run short passes on 3rd and 3-4+ yards, or maybe even just run a go route down the sideline. It's time teams had to prepare to defend a qb's legs for a UT team again, imo. The spread on 3rd and 4 with multiple weapons and using the entire field is more difficult to cover than Worley trying to play action and hit a quick throw.

being unsure slows up more guys than anything. 4.4 guy that isn't sure what to do is slower that a 4.5 guy getting to the right spot quickly with a route.

You have no idea if this is the case or not. We've not seen what this team is good doing. Jones will put the best out there.

I gave my opinion in defending the whole field and prefer a qb that can get out of the pocket and get yards to extend drives.

Who was the leading WR for the team that year? What a player knows doesn't always relate to the amount of receptions. Frosh will usually get fewer than upper class wr. This year we are in a much different situation. But Hunter knew quite a bit more than you're giving him credit.

Gerald Jones had 55 catches
Moore had 47
Hunter 16
Z Rogers 14
D Rogers 11

that was the only WRs to have any receptions

that's twice you have said something to that affect. Well no **** I have no idea at the speed our wr's will play at. None of us do.
I didn't say any of our guys wouldn't be ready or would. It's June.

Honestly it looks like he's going to be the starting QB. We can hope and dream of a freshman coming in and being just that good but I wouldn't bank on it. So what does everyone think of Worley? Is anyone optimistic about him? Has anyone seen anything out of him that makes them think he can bring something to the table?

The reason I'm asking is because I pretty much only hear negative talk about him from other fans (and to be honest I'm not exactly excited about him either). So does anyone out there have reasonable hope that this kid could be the real deal? Does he seem to have any specific skill set (game management, checks down well, etc) that would make you feel that way?

Basically do you/ do you not like him? And why/ why not?

Lets talk about you STILL using my handle!!!!! Chump!

From a feel good perspective, given what he's been through, one would hope Worley gets the job and does really well. From a realistic perspective, I will pull for any of the 4 who wins the job, can get the job done, and get it done consistently. I'm tired of losing seasons, and I want the guy who can put us in position to win games. May the best man win, and we won't know that until after pre season practices are completed. I hope a clear leader steps forward, and takes the job from his performance on the field.

He won Gatorade player of the year.

I don't think that's the same thing as being "highly touted" as the OP put it.
Jason White won the Heisman Trophy, but then wasn't drafted. Winning awards at one level and being desired by the next are two very different things.

In the Dobbs thread somebody said he is pretty slow too. Something like 4.94 in 40. He won't be able to get away from anybody at that rate. Maybe they are wrong though.

Dobbs has 40 times on different recruiting sites from 4.5 to 4.92 which tells me nobody has a clue what this kid runs.
Worley has times from 4.7 to 4.9 with an official 4.86.
Peterman has an official 4.8 and Ferguson ran it in the 4.7 to 4.8 range too.
Interestingly enough Worley had multiple player of the year awards in high school, Gatorade National Player if the Year as a senior and MaxPreps National Sophomore player of the year.
None stand out as far as speed but all are mobile enough to get out of the pocket and buy time.
Those that are saying Dobbs or anyone of the three aside from Worley are "better" or will be starting when they've never seen them take so much as a snap as a college football player are ignorant. Let's let the coaches determine who is best at the QB position after spending an off season evaluating their skill sets.

That's EXACTLY my point. Hunter was a frosh. Jones and Moore were going to get the most throws period. Doesn't mean Hunter or Z Rogers didn't know the plays.
This year we don't have guys like Jones and Moore coming back and we don't know yet what these WR will or won't be able to do. But we know they will be thrown to a helluva lot more than Hunter and Rogers.

Well to be honest you don't know a lot. But to this point you don't know what we will or won't be good at. Just because a QB can run doesn't mean that's the best option. There's a helluva lot of fast QB's that never get to play ball. It's situational to each team.

Your post made an inference that our WR wouldn't know their routes/assignments.

He was thrown in the lions den his freshman season and it showed with poor performances. He only threw a few passes his sophomore season. I just don't think I have seen enough of this guy to form an opinion. I can tell you though that I would love nothing more than for him to come in a tear sh*t up, just so everyone that has trash talked him has to eat their words.

I completely agree!

One thing I think could be in Worley's favor for a good season. Isn't Butches offense a lot more like the O his HS team ran compared to Chaney's?

I'm wondering this as well. I watched his HS game that was on ESPN when he beat Clowney's team, but I don't know enough about either offense to know how they compare to each other. Does anyone around here know?
