List your candidates to replace Holly......

Obvious choices have been mentioned but I will go a different direction. I think Kara Lawson would be a great hire. No contract to buy out. Media personality makes her an easy transition to recruiting because everyone in the game knows her. Lady Vol legend and knows the value of the program. And someone has to give her the first chance....why not us. Dawn Staley got a shot and it turned out great. I mean at this point what do we have to lose. We are already mediocre. You really think it would get worse with this hire?

There are several former UT players that have achieved success as players in the WBA and/or went on to coaching assistants: Nikki McCray (#1 assistant at SC) - Kara Lawson (if she desires to coach) or Kelly Jolly Harper at Missouri State. The one person on the current UT staff that must be kept is Kyra Elzy as she is "defense". Kentucky is successful defensively entirely to Elzy. She might be even considered for UT coach. At Kentucky she was the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. Elzy could turn things around.

I also think Kyra Elzy could turn this program around. I like her because she is the in your face coach Holly is not all she do is jump up and down.

As I've been reading these concerns about the LV's and CHW, which are legit. All I keep seeing is your smart mouth comebacks, stupid and corny jokes. You belittle mostly everyone who comments in the forum(that's what forums are for is to discuss). You my friend are a P(Rick). And now you are dismissed.

You might set a record for likes with this post. :)

1). geno
2). Muffet
3). Kim

In no particular order. Maybe one of them is ready for a new challenge. Maybe one is looking for a big raise. Maybe I'm dreaming. (Hey, I bought a powerball ticket, that made no sense either).

If you're going that route, why not go after Phil Jackson! :rock2:

There are so many potential good choices. I would like to see the Gonzaga coach get a shot. I could see Caldwell doing well. I wish we would make a run at Frese. Also, GG would be good. When she gets back into the game rejuvenated I think she will be good.

One other one that could be a home run hire -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Becky_Hammon

Definitely "babe" factor but never been a head coach.

Not that it matters what I think but if a coaching change is to be made, there needs to be a clean sweep of the entire coaching staff to include the support staff as well as the basketball director of operations. Everyone that sits on the bench or supports the program in the background needs to be removed from the team. Let the new coach put their staff in place. Treat it as a cancer and start over. Put all players on probation and observe them for signs of cancer as well. If found, treat it as aggressively as well. Don't do things half-a$$ed, kill em all and let God sort it out. That should satisfy all but the trolls who will never be satisfied until LV basketball no longer exists. That is all. You are dismissed.

Shocked to see you in this thread

I see which head you are thinking with, but can she coach?

Your surmise is correct, but re: coaching, she sued her Fresno State over sex discrimination, so I don't think that would be a direction we'd ever look. Currently she's an assistant with a men's pro team.

However, I might pay to watch her stroll the sidelines. Currently we turned down two free tickets from a season pass holder for Vandy tomorrow night. Even if it we weren't getting buried in 3+ inches of snow & it weren't an hour & 1/2 drive, I doubt we'd go.

We will probably still go to the South Carolina game because we've been invited as guests in one of the luxury boxes. My wife got to go last year, and she assures me that it's an experience. May never get another chance like that.

Just thinking way outside the box, what about Jose Fernandez from South Florida?

He has them currently at No. 15 in USA Today poll. They played UCONN within 16 points this season, and they drilled Chattanooga by about 30 (whom we beat by 2). No really bad losses on the season (they lost to Miss. State & to Baylor by 3, although I think they also lost to St. Johns).

Anyway, he's had a pretty good program and has done pretty well recently. He also has a pipeline to foreign talent: current roster includes players from Portugal, Denmark, and several from Spain. The rest seem to be good ole Southern gals: GA, ARK, FL.

As long as they have the current "coach" that they have now then Lady Vol basketball doesn't exist. What we' ve been seeing doesnt even come close to the program that we were so proud of. You can't win 'em all but what is happening under Warlick's watch is pathetic. Keep on blindly following little lemming without question. You're only heading straight off the cliff. Now, you're dismissed.

Definitely "babe" factor but never been a head coach.

She is the head coach of the Spurs summer league and she knows her stuff - Popo is one of the NBAs best coaches -- this type of hire is a no brainer

It would surely get huge media coverage given the SI spread recently.

With her college, Olympic, WNBA playing experience and now NBA coaching experience (including decision-making) & tutelage under Pop...if there's ever been a candidate without experience running a college program who's qualified, she seems to fit.

She would have to assemble a staff & know how to hit the recruiting trail, although I could see starstruck parents & players with her in their living rooms. Combine her star quality with UT's facilities, fan base, & storied history with the opportunity to return to greatness, and I could see some top recruits being convinced.

If all she could do would be to emulate the Spurs plan for success, I'd bet on her to succeed.

And I don't think there would be any doubts about who runs the show.
