List your candidates to replace Holly......

Becky Hammon has major chops and is now working with one of the best NBA coaches of all time. Could she teach our players how to break down a zone, since they play no zone in pro basketball? Probably. She be a great get if she wanted to run a premier college program--absolutely worth a major bid. Otherwise, an analyst could easily find 9 other excellent candidates in the college game. Let's stop talking about Frese; her program is in better shape than ours, so why would she leave it? She won't. And it goes without saying that we need a /completely new/ staff, if a change is made.

I'll jump on the Becky Hammon bandwagon...she would be great at UT and be here for a long time....I think she would only leave if an NBA assistant job came open....I don't think the WNBA could hire her away from UT

Mississippi State has improved tremendously in 4 years under Vic Schaefer. He is a Gary Blair clone. He has his team ready to play and utilizes his talent.

FWIW, I think Mulkey, Tyler, Dawn, Gail, Mitchell, and Nikki would be AWFUL replacements. I'd go for Muffet McGraw or Wes Moore or any other coach who has done MORE with the players they were given, not less or what was expected. And, no coach who HASN'T had success as head coach like our current head coach.

I would give up my 4 decades-long support of the LV if this Faustian deal were even possible. I wouldn't be able to ever enjoy a LV game again due to the nausea of watching him strut the sidelines. The ticket-takers would have to pass out buckets to the home crowd at the turnstiles.

They don't take tickets, they scan them. There aren't turnstiles either. :)

well from some of the posts Ive read the AD and Alums want all the money to go to Football If that's the case they may not want to spend the monies to get a top coach for fear Alums will stop donating. Just a thought.

The coach at Louisville would be a major get but several close to the program (not Hart) would not stand for a male coach.

"5.) Tyler Summit-I know people don't want him with the job and I don't think he is quite ready yet but with Holly unlikely to be fired the next couple of seasons (based on her contract extension) I think he will be ready by then to take over the reigns. He just had a very good recruiting class this past year and has a really good one coming in 2016 (Thanks to Mickey DeMoss who will more than likely return with him) I could see him on the sideline in a few seasons. All it will take imo is to get Louisiana Tech to the tournament at least once while there. (I don't think it will happen this season but they are 8-8 overall and 3-2 in their conference which ties them for 3rd place)"

This is probably unfair to Tyler, but I get a severe twinge of PTSD whenever somebody mentions hiring a coach based on their surname. In other words, we've been there; done that.

With the amount of money that the SEC will distribute at the June meetings....the buyout/paying a new coach money is nonsense

Sv, if I recall correctly, she was head coach of the NBA Spurs (that's the men's team)summer league team and won the summer championship.

You're correct! She would be a rock star in knoxville! and the LV's would find themselves back at/near the top once again...although she would have to make up for CHW poor recruiting but she will do well....I mean she is learning from one of the all time basketball minds in coach pop :rock:

Nikki Caldwell Fargas
:rock:Absolutely not, she did very well at UCLA prior to moving to LSU. Either she produces something this year at her $750,000 salary are the LSU AD will send her off to ride her Harley someplace else. If she cannot make it at LSU she certainly does not desire consideration at UT.

Gail Goestenkors
dukecoach_t640.jpg

:popcorn:Goestenkors was very successful at Duke and an absolute failure at Texas. She "resigned" is bull...quietly forced out because she did not produce.

Not that it matters what I think but if a coaching change is to be made, there needs to be a clean sweep of the entire coaching staff to include the support staff as well as the basketball director of operations. Everyone that sits on the bench or supports the program in the background needs to be removed from the team. Let the new coach put their staff in place. Treat it as a cancer and start over. Put all players on probation and observe them for signs of cancer as well. If found, treat it as aggressively as well. Don't do things half-a$$ed, kill em all and let God sort it out. That should satisfy all but the trolls who will never be satisfied until LV basketball no longer exists. That is all. You are dismissed.

Your opinion matters just as much as everyone else on this posting site. We do agree that it should be a clean sweep. Not even the water girl should survive.
