I was just saying that every good shooter will go through a spell when they are not shooting very well. You want to break a players cofidence even more bench him.I know it was only one game but his shot had alot more arch on it tonight.You have to let shooters shoot the ball even when they go through a slump.

Theres just somthing not right with the kid this season. Call it what you want, but I cant rem. the last time I saw a drop off in production this significant going from a jr to sr season when you are without question the teams leader and best scoring option.

Which I still agree that on any given night Lofton is the biggest threat on the floor, but nonetheless, CBP needs to do somthin to get inside this kids head before tourney time.

I know we have a much more tallented and deeper team this year, but I have a feeling we are going to need CL to win us a game here if not sooner than later, and I just dont know if I would want him with the ball.

Anyways, maybe against a lesser team, like dont let him start or somthin, just to see how he responds...

Does anyone agree with me in the slightest bit on this?!

He may be off from last season, but he can be streaky at times. He hit 2 big three's down the stretch against Kentucky even though the game may have been lost.

Don't count him out! I think he needs more confidence.

Thats exactly what I have been telling everyone around me.I really think that he is putting pressure on himself.And the fact of the matter is if you watch the games close he has someone in his face all the time.I also know that that has been kind of his trade mark hitting contested shots but guys and gals we need to try to get him better looks.And if it comes down to the last shot I sure would like the ball in his hands.

With shooting like this I bet there are a lot of coaches out there that would like to see Lofton benched, primarily the ones coming up on UT's remaining schedule.

Chris Lofton led UT (17-2, 4-1 SEC) with a season-high 27 points, hitting 9-of-17 shots including 7-of-13 from 3-point range. Lofton, the SEC’s all-time leading 3-point shooter, ranks ninth in NCAA history with 374.

If we can manage a run in the SEC tourny and NCAA tourny then he has a chance at another 30 or so more. He's got a chance at making a good run at it. It's unfortunate he had a bad slump at the beginning of this year, else he could cruise to #1.

Dude you're a moron to think Lofton needs to be benched.Whatever drug you're on(Crack,PCP,Meth,ETC.)you need to put down the pipe.Lofton is the heart and soul of our team.I have never heard anything so stupid.:crazy::no::banghead2:

I never understood the logic of this, anyway. We've lost two games, and Lofton had nothing to do with either loss. In fact, he was our best player in the two losses. You bench a guy if he's causing you to lose games, not if you're winning and he's in a shooting slump. Actually, I think he's been hurt and neither he nor Pearl was willing to say anything because he was continuing to draw the other team's best defender.

We'll miss Lofton a lot more than people realize when he's gone. UT should send Tubby Smith a thank-you card for not taking him at UK.
