Lofton needs to be...

The thing is though if his play kept up he did need to sit down. He was playing with no energy, but he has the fire back so no worries.

Umm, no. Lofton's play was terrible for most of the season. I see no need to explain myself to an a** like you.

Terrible? Leading the team in scoring for the better part of the season is playing "terrible"? I may be an a** or any other name pertaining to being a jerk, but the one thing I'm not is an idiot enough to call Lofton's play at ANY point, terrible.

Of all the basketball we've seen over the years at UT, and you pick ANY period of time CLo has played to call "terrible"? Give me a break.

He hasn't been all world like we needed him to be in years past, and we're still 17-2. He's shooting 50% from beyond the arch lately.. I'm not complaining. We all wondered if he'd get out of his slump (in which he was still averaging 13 a game and we were winning), and now he has, and will continue to heat up.

Up until a few games ago he wasn't the leading scorer on the team.

What is Lofton know for? Being a great shooter, yet he is shooting 36% from the three point line and inside the arc. Up until a few games ago it was well below that.

The 10 games before the OSU game where he has started playing better he shot 30-92, 32% from behind the arc. No matter how you slice it that is TERRIBLE.

He was standing around not doing anything and playing with no energy. Did he need to lose his starting position? No.

Keep calling me a dumb ass and all that other stuff. It says a lot about your character.

Actually, he did lead the team in scoring all season until about 6 games ago, when JaJuan had a couple of big games, then he took it. Keep up, you'll argue better.

I never called you a dumbass, I said I'd rather be a pompous ass than a dumbass, but never once identified you by name. Feeling guilty?

Also, Lofton is known as a great shooter only b/c people like you, who apparently watch every now and then, don't see the vast improvement in his all around game. Yes, his shot was down, but to say he was playing "terrible" is asinine.

Good point I rarely watch the games. Yeah the improvement in his passing is astonishing. He went from averaging 1.5 assists as a freshman to 2.1 this year. Holy crap! His rebounding is down from 3.6 a game as a freshman to 3.1 this year. Wow what improvement! His all around game is so much better. His steals per game where were 1.3 as a frosh to 1.3 now. His free throw % is lower than it was as a freshman.

What vast improvement, maybe you are the one who should pay attention a little more. Thanks for playing though.

So Lofton isn't a great shooter?

Wow, for someone who is so clueless, you sure do talk a lot of crap. Lofton being known as a great shooter has something to do with his career 42.4 3 point percentage, don't you think?

Not so fast my friend, his assists went up, his rebounding went down (he is not who we should worry about rebounding the ball anyways) and his steals stayed the same. That's great, not how much did he penetrate before last year. Also, you think that maybe his free throw percentage went down because suddenly he is at the line more. It's easy to hit 90 percent when you go twice a game.

By 0.6 in three years? You've got to be kidding.

I'll give you that one.

All that being said that other guys argument was that guys like me who don't ever watch only look at Lofton as a great shooter because I don't notice how much his overall game has improved.

The fact is it really hasn't.

I love Lofton and he is probably my favorite UTBB player of all time. That being said he brings one thing to the table, his shooting.

Lofton has been our go-to guy for two and a half seasons, when you are as big a scoring threat as he is, I don't see the need to give the ball up, especially when you are hot and can score twenty.

I just think you both have holes in your arguments, Lofton hasn't been terrible this year, but you also aren't an idiot for recognizing that until the last few games he has had a very down year.

Totally agree. And really that's the point. If he is shooting under 35% his value diminishes greatly because he is average to below average in every other aspect of the game.

Especially for Lofton, shooting under 35% a game is terrible.
