Looks like Jimbo Fisher is out.

Jimbo will resurface and do very well at another school. I always enjoyed his press conferences. North Carolina could be a good spot for him or Arkansas. Would hate to see him at South Carolina. The man can recruit.

The Dabo mentions on their forums seems like an oil and water mix waiting to happen. Dabo hates NIL and the portal, AM is going for NIL championships every year. Dabo runs Clemson and I imagine, for the most part, the boosters leave him alone, AM is going to be glad-handing and tip tickling 24/7.

But he can’t coach, so who cares. His AM classes have been; 10, 16, 6, 6, 7, 1, 14 and currently 9. Yet he’s unemployed. That actually speaks to how BAD he is.

Kind of disgusting a school can just fork out $76 million to get rid of someone. Multiple people should be fired for that contract extension. You don't make that decision unless you have a clear vision on who you want to target as your next head coach. If not, and yiu are just winging it, you deserve what you get.

Honeslty, it probably doesn't matter. I bet A&M turns into a trash program with Texas joining the conference. They are going to play second fiddle to them.
It's athletic department money, not the academic portion of the school's money. As with lots of big programs, the athletic department business is kept separate from the public school money.

Boosters will almost certainly provide the money to the AD, or at least most of it, but no actual public tax money or academic money will be used. Boosters may get lots of leverage in who the next coach is but that's a good thing, usually, for other teams because being rich has little to do with understanding football most of the time (if your name isn't Jimbo Fisher, I guess.)

This is the same reason I think Dabo is a lousy fit at Alabama. Bama has a big donor base that leaves the coach alone but whether Nick liked the switch from "dark money" to NIL or not, Nick played the game.

Dabo doesn't seem to want to go hard into the NIL and portal era and Bama transitioned right to it. I don't see him fitting in at Bama either.

Not so sure this is true. He wouldn't have the constant talent advantage he had at FSU at those schools and he's a very average coach imo. Jameis Winston made him look better than what he is...

Dabo won’t be in play. He’s another Jimbo. Past his prime.

Deion won’t be in play.

They’ll have to go after someone less established (cheaper), as they should.

Schumann
Elko
Kansas or K-States HC.

Those are who I’d look at.

Solid guys but I think they don’t make that financial move without having top tier guys line up to interview.

I am always interested to see what James Franklin does when other notable jobs open up. He’s hit his ceiling at Penn State.
I'd much rather see Franklin at aTm than Leiopold. That guy is a real coach. Wonder if aTm will make a run at Heupel? Would have Leiopold at the top of my replacement list.

Why would you hate to see him at South Carolina but are OK with Arkansas?

Dan Lanning appears to be their top target.

No. He's no different than Butch Jones. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone do less with as much talent as A&M has.

Recruit more against South Carolina generally than Arkansas. Other quality coaches including Bobby Bowden had limited success at one school then major success at another. Jimbo could choose to retire but might listen to offers. Whoever follows him with Aggies will have a super roster and can win. Lincoln Riley probably will apply. Hahaha.

At that price tag he’s getting, I’m not sure you could convince me to ever go back into the profession.

I cannot believe their fans are bringing his name up. Not only for the oil/water mix you mentioned, but because he hasn't had an elite team in 3 seasons.

Don't laugh now, but I could see this guy getting traction to come to UT if TN get blown out in back-to-back weeks.
